Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1 This
3、specification covers rigid PVC and CPVC com-pounds intended for general purpose use in extruded or moldedformincluding pressure piping applications and nonpressurepiping applicationscomposed of poly(vinyl chloride), chlo-rinated poly(vinyl chloride), or vinyl chloride copolymerscontaining at least 8
4、0 % vinyl chloride, and the necessarycompounding ingredients. The compounding ingredients shallbe permitted to consist of lubricants, stabilizers, non-poly(vinylchloride) resin modifiers, pigments, and inorganic fillers.NOTE 1Selection of specific compounds for particular end uses orapplications req
5、uires consideration of other characteristics such as thermalproperties, optical properties, weather resistance, etc. Specific require-ments and test methods for these properties should be by mutualagreement between the purchaser and the seller.NOTE 2Selection of compounds for pressure piping applica
6、tionsrequires consideration of material stress ratings that are required fordetermining pressure ratings, but are not addressed in this specification.Requirements for long-term material stress ratings in accordance withrecognized stress rating standards, such as HDB in accordance with TestMethod D28
7、37 for pressure piping, should be included in specificationsfor pressure piping products or systems.NOTE 3The list of compounding ingredients in 1.1 is not meant to bean exhaustive list of allowable compound ingredients. In addition to thecompounding ingredients listed, others may also be used. The
8、list ofcompounding ingredients in 1.1 does not imply that every ingredient listedis a required ingredient. Some compounds may not contain all theingredients listed in 1.1.1.2 For applications involving special chemical resistancesee Classification D5260.1.3 The requirements in this specification are
9、 intended forthe quality control of compounds used to manufacture finishedproducts. These properties are based on data obtained usingstandard test specimens tested under specified conditions. Theyare not directly applicable to finished products. See theapplicable ASTM standards for requirements for
10、finishedproducts.1.4 The text of this specification references notes andfootnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes andfootnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not beconsidered as requirements of this specification.1.5 Rigid PVC recycle plastics meeting the requirements o
