Scope1.1 This practice provides information for the properstorage, mixing, and use of chemically setting sili
3、cate andsilica mortars for bonding chemical-resistant brick or tile inorder to obtain the optimum chemical resistance and physicalstrength of the mortar.1.2 This practice does not apply to the air-setting type ofsilicate and silica chemical-resistant mortars.1.3 Chemical-resistant brick or tile conf
4、orming to Specifi-cations C279, C410,orC980 are considered satisfactory foruse with these mortars.NOTE 1For specifications for mortars covered by this practice, seeSpecification C466.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Shipment and Storage4.1 The powder shall be protected from water duringshipment and storage. Powder that has become wet shall
9、 bediscarded.4.2 The liquid binder shall be protected from freezingduring shipment and storage. In the event that any containers ofliquid have ruptured, they shall be discarded.4.3 In the event that silica sols freeze, they must bediscarded. In the event that silicates freeze, they may berestored by
10、 warming and thorough stirring until a uniformsolution results. Consult the manufacturer for recommenda-tions.5. Installation Conditions5.1 Silicate and silica mortars shall be applied when thepowder, binder or water, brick or tile, substrate and ambient airtemperatures are all between 50F (10C) and
11、 90F (32C). Fortemperatures outside this range, consult the manufacturer forrecommendations.5.2 The brick or tile and substrate shall be clean and dryduring installation.6. Mixing and Application6.1 Use the proportions of powder to binder or potablewater recommended by the manufacturer. Weigh the po
12、wderand binder or potable water into separate containers accordingto the recommended ratio. Liquid and powder levels may thenbe marked so that future measurements may be made byvolume.6.1.1 The optimum properties may vary due to temperature.The mortar should be sufficiently stiff for the brick or ti
