Scope*1.1 This test method covers the measurement of water-extractable SO3in hardened hydraulic cement mortar. Thismeasurement is as

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsThe terms used in this test method aredefined in accordance with Terminology C 219.4. Significance and Use4.1 Excess soluble sulfate ion
9、s in hardened cement canresult in reduced durability. This test method is intended toshow whether calcium sulfate has been used in cement in suchamount to leave excess soluble sulfate in hardened mortar. Thetest method is used to establish compliance in SpecificationC 595 for those cements in which
10、optimized SO3exceeds thetable limit. This test method also can provide useful informa-tion on other hydraulic cements, such as those specified inSpecifications C 150 and C 1157.4.2 When this test method is used in conjunction with TestMethod C 563, use the appropriate age of test specimens (24 h,3 d
11、ays, or 7 days) to coincide with the age of specimens usedin Test Method C 563.5. Apparatus5.1 SieveA 2.36-mm (No.8) sieve conforming to Specifi-cation E11.5.2 Mixer, Bowl, and PaddleAn electrically driven me-chanical mixer equipped with a paddle and bowl, as specifiedin the Apparatus section of Pra

18、n Compositionof Mortars of Test Method C 109/C 109M, except use awater-cementious material ratio of 0.5, by mass. Mix mechani-cally in accordance with Procedure for Mixing Mortars ofPractice C 305.8.2 Split the batch immediately after mixing then placeapproximately 450 g of mortar in each of the two
