Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 cracking loada load which creates a bending mo-ment of
15、 enough magnitude to produce a tensile stress greaterthan the sum of induced compression plus the tensile strengthof the concrete resulting in tensile cracks on the tension face ofthe base.3.1.2 cylindrical sectionlower portion of base designed tobe buried in concrete backfill below ground line.3.1.
16、3 spun basea base in which the concrete is distributedand compacted through centrifugal force.3.1.4 tapered sectionupper portion of base, which has ataper designed to match overlapping steel pole taper.3.1.5 ultimate loadmaximum load the base will carry inthe specified direction, before the concrete
17、 or steel will reachits limiting state.4. Basis of Acceptance4.1 Acceptability of spun prestressed concrete bases pro-duced in accordance with this specification shall be determinedby the test results of compressive strength tests of concretecylinders and mill certificates for the reinforcing steel.
18、 Themanufacturer shall certify that the cement, aggregates,admixtures, and steel shall conform to the applicable specifi-cation for each material. The manufacturer shall also certifyadherence to tolerance on dimensions and mass. In addition theacceptability of the bases, produced in accordance with
19、thisspecification, shall be verified by the results of full scalebending tests. The purchaser shall specify the number andfrequency of full-scale tests. Bases shall be accepted on thebasis of producer certifications and historical test data offull-scale bending and tests on equal or larger bases.5.
20、Materials5.1 CementPortland cement shall conform to the require-ments of Specification C150 or shall be portland blast-furnaceslag cement or portland-pozzolan cement conforming to therequirements of Specification C595. Performance cement forspecific use shall conform to Specification C1157.5.1.1 Sup
21、plementary Cementitious MaterialsFly ash shallconform to the requirements of Specification C618. Slagcement (ground granulated blast furnace slag) shall conform tothe requirements of Specification C989. Silica fume shallconform to Specification C1240.5.2 AggregateAggregates shall conform to Specific
22、ationC33 except that the requirements for grading shall not apply. Ifa producer can demonstrate that aggregates conforming toSpecification C330 could be used to manufacture an acceptableproduct, those aggregates may be used.5.3 WaterWater used for mixing concrete shall be free ofoils, organic matter
23、, and other substances in amounts that maybe deleterious to concrete or reinforcing steel, and it shall notcontain concentration of chloride ions in excess of 500 ppm orsulfate ions in excess of 1000 ppm.5.4 AdmixtureChemical admixtures shall conform toSpecification C494.Air-entraining admixtures sh
