Scope1.1 This guide provides information to manufacturers forthe development of a loose-fill thermal insulation productcove
3、rage chart. This guide is limited to developing a coveragechart from density versus thickness, apparent thermal conduc-tivity versus density, and thickness versus area mass relation-ships obtained through product testing.1.2 This guide applies to a wide variety of loose-fill thermalinsulation produc
4、ts including mineral fiber (SpecificationC 764), or cellulosic fiber (Specification C 739) materials;granular types including vermiculite (Specification C 516) andperlite (Specification C 549); pelletized products; and anyother insulation material that can be installed pneumatically orpoured in plac
5、e.1.3 Coverage charts for loose-fill insulation products arerequired by regulation under the United States Federal TradeCommissions 16CFR Part 460. Other countries or localgoverning agencies may have coverage chart requirements inaddition to, or that differ from, those presented in this guide;see th

12、lume of aloose-fill insulation after which time and/or forces have exertedtheir effect upon thickness.3.2.4 settled thicknessThe thickness, as measured, afterwhich neither time nor forces effect a measurable change.4. Summary of Guide4.1 This guide provides several procedures for use indeveloping lo
13、ose-fill product coverage chart values from test-derived, best-fit settled density versus settled thickness, appar-ent thermal conductivity versus density, and installed thicknessversus mass per unit area relationships. The settled densityversus settled thickness relationship is determined using lon
14、g-term aging studies or other methods as identified in the materialstandard.
