3、g roller-compactedconcrete specimens and covers determination of the relativebond between layers of roller-compacted concrete or otherhardened concrete in multiple-lift forms of construction. It isapplicable to all types of layered concrete where the total depthis sufficient to meet the minimum spec
4、imen length and diam-eter requirements of this test method. This test method is notintended to provide tensile strength results of the materialtested.1.2 The values stated in SI units, shown in brackets, orinch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Thevalues stated in each system ma
5、y not be exact equivalents;therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other,without combining values in any way. Significance and Use4.1 This test method is used to measure the effectiveness ofbonding roller-compacted concrete to other r
10、oller-compactedconcrete or other hardened cementitious mixtures by using apoint load test at the joint. Bond strength is determined usingdrilled cores or cast cylindrical specimens in which the bondsurface is essentially normal to the longitudinal axis at approxi-mately the mid-length of the specime
11、n.Asplitting tensile stressnormal to the bond surface is produced by applying a pointload at the joint.4.2 This test method may be used either for laboratoryinvestigation by casting individual composite cylinders or bycoring prototype structures or assemblies (Test Method C 42/C 42M).5. Apparatus5.1
12、 Testing MachineThe testing machine shall conform tothe requirements of Test Method C 39/C 39M.5.2 Testing ApparatusThe testing apparatus shall be con-structed of steel and allow the testing of both 4 and 6-in. 100and 150-mm diameter specimens. The test schematic is givenin Fig. 1. The testing appar
13、atus shall permit the positioning ofa specimen such that the joint of the bonded surfaces isoriented as closely as possible parallel to the direction ofloading. Figs. 2-9 provide the information necessary to con-struct the apparatus for 4 and 6-in. 100 and 150-mm diameterspecimens. Anvil rods (Fig.

The system is easily adaptable to most testing machines.6. Test Specimens6.1 Test specimens shall be cores or cast cylinders 4 or 6 60.25 in. 100 or 150 6 5 mm i
18、n diameter. Cast cylinders inaccordance with Practice C 1176, Practice C 1435, or TestMethod D 1557. Cut each core and cast each cylinder to ensurethat the plane best describing the bond surface is oriented at 906 15 to the long axes of the specimens.6.2 Cure molded test specimens in accordance with
19、 PracticeC 192/C 192M (laboratory specimens). Drilled cores shall bemoisture conditioned in accordance with Test Method C 42/C 42M.NOTE 1Test results are not affected significantly by specimen surfacesobtained with normal coring operations. The ends of cores need not betrimmed.NOTE 2Where the bond s
20、urface undulates grossly, that is, the surfacehas a local texture exceeding 0.5 in. 13 mm in amplitude, 6-in. 150-mmdiameter cores are preferable. No information is available on the relativeresults of 6-in. 150-mm versus 4-in. 100-mm diameter specimens.7. Procedure7.1 MeasurementsDetermine the diame
21、ter of the testspecimens by averaging three diameters measured on the bondsurface. Visually identify the bond surface by color, texture, ormaterial contrasts. Measure diameters to the nearest 0.01 in.0.25 mm with calipers, whenever possible, but at least to thenearest 0.1 in. 2.5 mm. Determine the l
22、ength of each sectionof the bonded specimens to the nearest 0.1 in. 2.5 mm, anduse these lengths to determine the section length-to-diameterratios. Specimens must have a minimum length-to-diameterratio of 1.2 if the bond plane is at mid-length (within 60.25 in.6 mm) of the specimen. If the bond plan

Where the bondsurface is irregular or undulating, mark on the specimen a linerepresenting a plane extending through and
