2、revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers faced or unfaced, rigid cellularphenolic thermal insulation. Boards shall be faced or unfaced.Tub
3、ular forms covered by this standard shall be unfaced. Itdoes not apply to field expanded cellular phenolic materials.NOTE 1If a facer or vapor retarder is to be used for the tubular form,then refer to Practice C9211.2 Materials covered by this specification are used as roofinsulation; sheathing or r
4、igid board for non-load bearing,building material applications; and pipe insulation for usebetween 40 and 257F (40 and 125C). Type II and Type IIImaterials with an appropriate vapor retarder covering on thewarm surface are used to a lower temperature limit of 290F(180C). (See 7.2.)1.3 The values sta
5、ted in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.4 The main body of this specification covers Chlorofluo-rocarbons and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons free (

17、osed by cell walls, and not intercon-nected with other cells.3.2.3 open cell materialfoam whose cells are not totallyenclosed by its walls and therefore exhibits a predominance ofinterconnecting cells.3.2.4 ozone depletion potential (ODP)a relative indexindicating the extent to which a chemical prod
18、uct causes ozonedepletion.3.2.4.1 DiscussionThe reference level of 1 is the potentialor trichlorofluoromethane (R-11 or CFC-11) to cause ozonedepletion. ODP 0an ozone depletion potential of zero.4. Classification4.1 The thermal insulation shall be of the following types:4.1.1 Type IFor use as roof i
19、nsulation board. Producedwithout integral vapor retarder facers.4.1.2 Type IIFor use as sheathing or rigid panel fornon-load bearing applications. 20、ion5.1 Orders for materials purchased under this specificationshall include the following information:5.1.1 Designation of this specification.5.1.2 Product name and type.5.1.3 Size and dimensions.5.1.4 Quantity of material.5.1.5 Special requirements for inspection and/or testing.5.1.6 Pipe insulatio
21、n jacketing (optional).6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Foam Core Chemical CompositionThe foam shall beproduced by a chemical reaction of a phenolic resin, surfactant,blowing agent, and other additives as needed.6.2 Facings Facing on Type II material shall be adheredto the core stock and suitable for
22、 the service intended. Theyshall be supplied as agreed upon between manufacturer andpurchaser.7. Physical Properties7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements asshown in Table 1.7.2 Not all physical properties at temperatures below 40F(40C) have been fully tested, and the user shall consult
23、themanufacturer for any properties and performance required atthese lower temperatures.8. Dimensions and Tolerances8.1 DimensionsThe dimensions shall be as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the supplier, but commonly shall beas follows:8.1.1 Type IWidth, 24 in., 36 in., or 48 in. (610 mm, 915mm,
24、or 1220 mm). Length, 48 in. or larger (1220 mm orlarger).8.1.2 Type IIWidth, 48 in. (1220 mm).
