Scope1.1 This specification covers faced or unfaced, rigid cellularphenolic thermal insulation. Boards shall be faced or unfaced.Tubu
3、lar forms covered by this standard shall be unfaced. Itdoes not apply to field expanded cellular phenolic materials.NOTE 1If a facer or vapor retarder is to be used for the tubular form,then refer to Practice C9211.2 Materials covered by this specification are used as roofinsulation; sheathing or ri
4、gid board for non-load bearing,building material applications; and pipe insulation for usebetween 40 and 257F (40 and 125C). Type II Grade 1 andType III Grade 1 materials with an appropriate vapor retardercovering on the warm surface can be used to a lowertemperature limit of 290F (180C). (See 7.2.)
5、1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. 17、ells are totally enclosed by cell walls, and not intercon-nected with other cells.3.2.3 open cell materialfoam whose cells are not totallyenclosed by its walls and therefore exhibits a predominance ofinterconnecting cells.4. Classification4.1 The thermal insulation shall be of the following typesand
18、 grades:4.1.1 Type IFor use as roof insulation board. Producedwithout integral vapor retarder facers.4.1.2 Type IIFor use as sheathing or rigid panel fornon-load bearing applications. Produced with integral vaporretarder facers.4.1.3 Type IIIFor use as pipe insulation. Produced withoutintegral vapor
19、 retarder facers.4.1.4 Grade 1Closed cell material. Foam for Type I ofthis grade will have an apparent thermal conductivity of 0.16Btuin./hft2F (0.023 W/mK) or less and foam for Types IIand III of this grade will have an apparent thermal conductivityof 0.15 Btuin./hft2F (0.022 W/mK) or less at a mea
20、ntemperature of 75F (24C) when aged in accordance with13.6.1.4.1.5 Grade 2Open cell material. Foam of this grade willhave an apparent thermal conductivity of 0.23 Btuin./hft2F(0.033 W/mK) or less at a mean temperature of 75F (24C).NOTE 2The average thermal conductivities shown in this section arefor

Materials and Manufacture6.1 Foam Core Chemical CompositionThe foam shall beproduced by a chemical reaction of a phenolic resin, surfactant,blowing agent, and oth
23、er additives as needed.6.2 Facings Facing on Type II material shall be adheredto the core stock and suitable for the service intended. Theyshall be supplied as agreed upon between manufacturer andpurchaser.7. Physical Properties7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements asshown in Table 1.7.
24、2 Not all physical properties at temperatures below 40F(40C) have been fully tested, and the user should consult themanufacturer for properties and performance at these lowertemperatures.8.
