Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers aluminum alloys in the 8000series cited
3、 in B800 in tempers “0” and H1X or H2X barecompact-round, compressed and conventional concentric-lay-stranded conductors made from round or shaped wires used ascovered or insulated electrical conductors. These conductorsshall be composed of a central core surrounded by one or morecompacted, compress
4、ed or conventional layers of helicallyapplied wires (Explanatory Note 1 and Note 2).1.2 The SI values for resistivity are regarded as standard.For all other properties, the inch-pound units are regarded asstandard and the SI units may be approximate.1.3 Sealed conductors that are intended to prevent
5、 longitu-dinal water propagation are also permitted within the guide-lines of this specification.2. Classification3.1 For the purpose of this
8、 specification, conductors areclassified as follows:3.1.1 Class AFor conductors to be covered with weather/resistant materials.3.1.2 Class BFor conductors to be insulated with variousmaterials such as rubber, paper, varnished cloth, etc., and forthe conductors indicated under ClassAwhere greater fle
9、xibilityis required.3.1.3 Class C and DFor conductors where greater flex-ibility is required than is provided by Class B conductors.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.1 Quantity of each size and class (Table 1).4.1.2 Con
10、ductor size; circular-mil area or Awg (Section 7),4.1.3 Class (See 3.1),4.1.4 Temper (Section 12),4.1.5 Lay direction if nonstandard (See 6.3 and 6.4), re-versed or unidirectional (See 6.3) or special (See 6.4),4.1.6 Special tension test, if required (See 8.2),4.1.7 Packaging (Section 19),4.1.8 Spec
11、ial package marking (Section 19), and4.1.9 Place of inspection (Section 18).5. Joints5.1 Joints may be made in any of the wires of any strandingby electric-butt welding, cold-pressure welding, or electric-butt, cold-upset welding.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee B01 on

15、dividual wires in a finished conductorshall be not closer together than 1 ft (0.3 m) for conductors of19 wires or less, or closer than 1 ft (0.3 m) in a layer forconductors of more than 19 wires.5.3 No joint or splice shall be made in a stranded conductoras a whole.6. Lay6.1 The length of lay for al
16、l classes shall be not less than 8nor more than 16 times the outside diameter of that layer,except that for conductors composed of 37 wires or more, thisrequirement shall apply only to the two outer layers. The lay ofthe layers other than the two outer layers shall be at the optionof the manufacture
17、r, unless otherwise agreed upon.6.1.1 For conductors to be used in covered or insulatedwires or cables, the lay length of the wires shall be not less than8 nor more than 16 times the outer diameter of the finishedconductor. For conductors of 37 wires or more, this require-ment shall apply to the wir
18、es in the outer two layers.
