Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 rod, nproduct of round solid section furnished instraight lengths.4. Ordering Information4.1 It is the responsib
9、ility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for material ordered under thisspecification. Examples of such requirements include, but arenot limited to the following:4.1.1 Alloy,4.1.2 DimensionsNominal diameter and length. Theshortest useable multiple length should be specifi
10、ed (Table 1),4.1.3 CertificationState if certification or a report of testresults is required (Section 16).4.1.4 Purchaser InspectionState which tests or inspec-tions are to be witnessed (Section 13), and4.1.5 Samples for Product (Check) AnalysisState whethersamples should be furnished (9.2.2).5. 11、emical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in Table 2.5.2 If a product (check) analysis is made by the purchaser,the material shall conform to the requirements specified inTable 2 subject to the permissible tolerances in SpecificationB88

Mechanical and Other Requirements6.1 The mechanical properties of the material at roomtemperature shall conform to those shown in Table 3.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee B02 onNonferrous Metals and Alloys and is the direct responsibility of SubcommitteeB02.07 on

Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations7.1 DiameterThe permissible variations from the speci-fied diameter shall be as prescribed in Table 4.7.2 Out-of-RoundnessThe permissible variation in round-ness shall be as prescribed in Table 4.7.3 Machining AllowancesWhen the surfaces
17、of finishedmaterial are to be machined, the following allowances aresuggested for normal machining operations:7.3.1 As-finished (Annealed and Descaled)For diametersof516 to1116 in. (7.94 to 17.46 mm) inclusive, an allowance of116 in. (1.59 mm) on the diameter should be made for finishmachining.7.4 L
18、ength:7.4.1 Unless multiple, nominal, or cut lengths are specified,random mill lengths shall be furnished.7.4.2 The permissible variations in length of multiple,nominal, or cut length rod shall be as prescribed in Table 1.Where rods are ordered in multiple lengths, a14-in. (6.35-mm)length addition s
19、hall be allowed for each uncut multiple length.7.5 Ends:7.5.1 Rods ordered to random or nominal lengths shall befurnished with either cropped or sawed ends.7.5.2 Rods ordered to cut lengths shall be furnished withsquare saw cut or machined ends.7.6 WeightFor calculations of mass or weight, the follo

Sampling9.1 Lots for Chemical Analysis and Mechanical Testing:9.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.9.1.2 A lot of bar for mechanic
22、al testing shall be defined asthe material from one heat in the same condition and specifieddiameter.9.2 Sampling for Chemical Analysis:9.2.1 A representative sample shall be obtained from eachheat during pouring or subsequent processing.9.2.2 Product (check) analysis shall be wholly the respon-sibi
