Scope1.1 This specification covers aluminum-alloy 6201-T81(hard, solution heat-treated, cold worked, and artificially

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 lotA group of production units, up to 30 000 lb 15metric tons of mass, of one type and size of wire, which wasproduced during the same time period, under similar p

Material and Manufacture5.1 The aluminum alloy used shall be of such quality thatwire produced from it can comply with the requirements as tochemical composition, tensile and elongation properties, bend-ing properti
16、es, and electrical resistivity prescribed in thisspecification.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The wire shall be made from aluminum alloy 6201 asdesignated in ANSI H35.1 and H35.1M. The material shallconform to the chemical composition prescribed in Table 1.7. Tensile Properties7.1 The heat-treated, draw
17、n, and artificially aged wire whensampled in accordance with Section 14 of this specification andtested in accordance with Test Methods B557 and B557M for6201-T81 shall conform to the tensile requirements prescribedin Table 2 and for 6201-T83 to the tensile requirements ofTable 3 (Explanatory Note 3
18、).7.2 When requested by the purchaser, tension tests shall bemade on specimens of heat-treated, drawn, and artificially agedwire containing joints made in the wire after heat treatment andprior to final drawing. Such tests shall show not less than 90 %of the minimum strength specified in Table 2 (fo
19、r 6201-T81) orTable 3 (for 6201-T83) for individual test.7.3 When requested by the purchaser, tension tests shall bemade on specimens of heat-treated, drawn, and artificially agedwire containing joints made in the finished wire or during thefinal drawing as permitted in 12.2. Such tests shall show t
20、hetensile strength to be not less than 42 ksi (290 MPa) (for6201-T81) or 32 ksi (220 MPa) (for 6201-T83) for cold-pressure welds and for electric-butt, cold-upset welds and notless than 15 ksi (100 MPa) for electric-butt welds. Electric-buttwelds in addition shall show a minimum elongation of 6 % in
21、10 in. 250 mm.8. Bending Properties8.1 The wire shall be free of brittleness as evidenced by itsability to be coiled or looped around its own diameter eitherwith or without a mandrel. No fracture shall occur. Slightsurface checks shall not constitute cause for rejection.8.2 Any coil or reel may be t
22、ested in accordance with 8.1,but the frequency of production sampling and testing shall beby agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser.9. Resistivity9.1 Electrical resistivity, determined on samples selected inaccordance with Section 14 of this specification and tested inaccordance with T
23、est Method B193, shall not exceed 0.032841mm2/m at 20C 68F (for 6201-T81) and shall not exceed0.032530 mm2/m at 20C 68F (for 6201-T83) (Explana-tory Note 2 and Table 4).10. Density10.1 For the purpose of calculating mass, mass per unitlength, mass cross sections, etc., the density of aluminum-alloy6
24、201 shall be taken as 2690 kg/m3(0.097 lb/in.3) at 20C.11. Diameter and Permissible Variations11.1 The diameter of the wire shall be expressed in decimalfractions of an inch using four places of decimals or inmillimetres using two places of decimals.11.2 Ten percent, but not less than five coils or
