Scope1.1 This specification covers chromium-nickel stainlesssteel plate, sheet, and strip, modified by
3、 the addition of naturalor enriched boron, for nuclear application.1.2 Borated stainless steels covered by this specification,because of their particular alloy content and specialized prop-erties, may require special care in their fabrication and weld-ing. Specific procedures are of fundamental impo
4、rtance, and itis presupposed that all parameters will be in accordance withapproved methods capable of producing the desired propertiesin the finished fabrication.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. 6、 Products3. Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 platematerial316 in. (4.8 mm) and over in thicknessand over 10 in. (250 mm) in width.3.1.2 sheetmaterial under316 in. (5.0 mm) in thicknessand 24 in. (600 mm) and over in width.3.1.3 stripmaterial under316 in. (5.0 mm) i
7、n thicknessand under 24 in. (600 mm) in width.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe information specified in the Ordering Information sectionof Specification A 480/A 480M.5. Process5.1 If a specific type of melting is required by the purchaser,it sh
8、all be stated on the purchase order.5.2 When specified on the purchase order, or when aspecific type of melting has been specified on the purchaseorder, the material manufacturer shall indicate on the test reportthe type of melting used to produce the material.6. Heat Treatment6.1 The austenitic chr
9、omium-nickel steels shall be solution-annealed to meet the mechanical property requirements of thisspecification. Solution-annealing shall consist of heating thematerial to a temperature of 1900F (1040C) minimum for anappropriate time followed by water quenching or rapidlycooling by other means.7. M
10、aterial Test Report7.1 A report of the results of all tests required by thisspecification and the type of melting used shall be supplied tothe purchaser.8. Chemical Composition8.1 The chemical analysis of representative material shall beperformed, as agreed upon between the purchaser and supplier,to
11、 determine the percentages of the elements identified in Table1. The chemical composition thus determined shall be reportedto the purchaser, or his representative, and shall conform to therequirements specified in Table 1.8.2 When a product (check or verification) analysis isperformed, the chemical
12、composition thus determined mayvary from the specified limits by the amounts shown in Table1, Product Analysis Tolerances, of Specification A 480/A 480M.8.3 Methods and practices relating to chemical analysisrequired by this specification shall be in accordance with TestMethods, Practices, and Termi

Mechanical Pro
16、perties9.1 Tensile PropertiesThe material shall conform to thetensile property requirements specified in Table 2.9.2 HardnessThe material shall conform to the hardnessrequirements as specified in Table 2.9.3 GradeThe grade of the material is defined by theuniformity of the dispersion of the boron wi
17、thin the melt.Grade A corresponds to the near-optimal dispersion, whileGrade B corresponds to a less-than-optimal dispersion of theboron. Conventional wrought metallurgical practice conformsto Grade B properties. The quality of the boron dispersion ismeasured indirectly through the ductility require
18、ments, asspecified in Table 2.10. Special Tests10.1 If any special tests are required that are pertinent to theintended application of the material ordered, they shall beagreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser.10.2 Charpy V-notch impact testing is not required unless itis specified on the
19、 purchase order. If so specified, impacttesting shall be performed in accordance with Test Methodsand Definitions A 370. The impact test results thus determinedshall be reported to the purchaser, or his representative, andshall conform to the requirements specified in Table 3. Ifsubsize impact test
20、specimens are used, the applicable require-ments shall be agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier.11. Dimensions and Permissible Variations11.1 Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, ma-terial shall conform to the permissible tolerances shown inSpecification A 480/A 480M.11.2 Sh
