Scope*1.1 This specification covers lightweight aggregates in
3、-tended for use in concrete not exposed to the weather, in whichthe prime consideration is the thermal insulating property ofthe resulting concrete.1.2 The text of this standard references notes and footnoteswhich provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes(excluding those in tables and
4、figures) shall not be consideredas requirements of the standard.1.3 With regard to sieve size and the size of aggregate asdetermined by the use of testing sieves, the values in inch-pound units are shown for the convenience of the user;however, the standard sieve designation shown in parenthesesis t

Classification4.1 Two general types of lightweight aggregate are coveredby this specification as follows:4.1.1 Group IAggregates prepared by expanding productssuch as perlite
11、 or vermiculite.NOTE 1These aggregates generally produce concrete having a densityfrom 15 to 50 lb/ft3(240 to 800 kg/m3), the thermal conductivity of whichmay be expected to range from 0.45 to 1.50 Btuin/hft2F (0.065 to 0.22W/mK).4.1.2 Group IIAggregates prepared by expanding,calcining, or sintering
12、 products such as blast-furnace slag, clay,diatomite, fly ash, shale, or slate; and aggregates prepared byprocessing natural materials, such as pumice, scoria, or tuff.NOTE 2These aggregates generally produce concrete having a densityfrom 45 to 90 lb/ft3(720 to 1440 kg/m3), the thermal conductivity

19、aggregates, fineness modulus determination shall be madeperiodically. If the fineness modulus of the aggregate differs bymore than 7 % from that of the sample submitted foracceptance, the aggregate is subject to rejection, unless thesupplier demonstrates that it will produce concrete of therequired
20、characteristics.5.3 Loose Bulk Density (Test Method C29/C29M)The dryloose bulk density of lightweight aggregates shall conform tothe requirements shown in Table 2.5.3.1 Uniformity of Loose Bulk DensityThe dry loose bulkdensity of successive shipments of lightweight aggregates shallnot differ by more
21、 than 10 % from that of the sample submittedfor acceptance.6. Sampling and Testing for Aggregate Properties6.1 Sample lightweight aggregates and determine the prop-erties enumerated in this specification in accordance with thefollowing methods:6.1.1 SamplingPractice D75/D75M, except samplebagged mat
