13、 to any construction project by citing it in the ProjectSpecification. The Architect/Engineer uses and supplements the provisions ofthis reference specification as needed by designating or specifying individualproject requirements to which provisions of this specification apply.This document provide

14、s requirements for alternative methods for curingconcrete. These alternative methods are not necessarily equal ineffectiveness, cost, effect on project schedule, or impact on other aspectsof the project. To use this specification, the Architect/Engineer must notonly include this document by referenc

15、e in the Project Specification, butmust also identify the concrete elements that are to be cured, and mustchoose the method to cure those elements. This specification has defaultsettings that may or may not be applicable to a specific project. TheArchitect/Engineer is to use the Checklists included

16、in this specification tocustomize the specification to a specific project. Checklists are provided inthis document to guide the Architect/Engineer through these selectionprocesses, and the selections must be included in the Project Specification.Alternatively, the Architect/Engineer may allow the Co

17、ntractor the optionof using one or more of a number of permissible curing methods, subject toreview and approval. Further, the Architect/Engineer must determinewhether deliberate curing efforts are to be terminated after a predeterminedtime has elapsed, or only after specified concrete properties ha

18、ve developed.When deliberate efforts to cure the concrete are to be terminated only whenspecified concrete properties have developed, the Architect/Engineer mustalso select the test method used to measure those properties.This specification addresses curing methods applied after placement ofconcrete

19、 and does not apply to internal curing (use of saturated light-weight aggregate or other materials to provide supplemental water) or toaccelerated curing (heat curing).The materials, processes, quality control measures, and inspectionsdescribed in this document should be tested, monitored, or perfor

35、08.1 is to be used by reference orincorporation in its entirety in the Project Specification. Donot copy individual Sections, Parts, Articles, or Paragraphsinto the Project Specification, because taking them out ofcontext may change their meaning.P2. If Sections or Parts of ACI Specification 308.1 a

36、recopied into the Project Specification or any other document,do not refer to them as an ACI Specification, because thespecification has been altered.P3. A statement such as the following will serve to makeACI Specification 308.1 a part of the Project Specification:“Work on (Project Title) shall con

Statements provided in theSpecification as information to the Contractor use the verbs“may” or “will.” Informational statements typically identifyactivities or options that “will be taken” or “may be taken” by theOw

When ACI 301, “Specifications for Structural Concrete,”is referenced in a Project Specification, this Specificationshall not be referenced.Mandatory requirements checklistThe specifier is to determine the desired results of thecuring and select the appropriate section

41、or sections toachieve those results if a particular curing method isdesired. The Specifier is to use ACI 308R, “Guide toCuring Concrete,” as commentary for making decisionswithin the checklists. The alternative methods described ineach section of this specification are not necessarily equalin effect

42、iveness, cost, effect on project schedule, or impacton other aspects of the project. To use this specification,the Architect/Engineer must not only include this documentby reference in the Project Specification, but must alsoreview and respond to the checklists. It is imperative thatthe Architect/En

43、gineer annotate this specification to meetthe project requirements through the checklists. TheArchitect/Engineer must identify the concrete elementsthat are to be cured and must choose the method to curethem. Further, the Architect/Engineer must determinewhether deliberate curing efforts must or may

44、 terminateafter a predetermined time has elapsed, or only afterparticular levels of concrete properties have developed.When deliberate efforts to cure the concrete are to beterminated only when particular concrete properties havedeveloped, the Architect/Engineer must also select the testmethod used

45、to measure those properties.
