24、in (TSB) establishes a process for sustainable information communications technology manufacturers. It is intended to give guidelines to manufacturers to follow for a recognized sustainable manufacturing process. Approval of this TSB This TSB was approved by TIA Subcommittee TR 42.10. Contributing o

25、rganizations More than 30 organizations within the telecommunications industry (including manufacturer, consultants, end users and other organizations) contributed their expertise to the development of this TSB. Introduction This TSB is intended to provide a guide for the implementation of a formali

26、zed program for sustainability in the manufacturing of ICT products. Purpose The principal goal of this TSB is to be useful to information communication technology (ICT) manufacturers, including their suppliers, distributors, system integrators, and value-added resellers who have a commitment to sus

27、tainable manufacturing; a commitment to the environment; a commitment to process improvement and are responsible corporate citizens. Expected usefulness This TSB is intended to complement the process for sustainability efforts. It focuses on important environmental issues such as the energy consumpt

28、ion and heat loads resulting from building technologies and the product manufacturing process. ISO 50001 energy management systems The International Organization for Standardization defines ISO 50001 as specifying requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy manag

29、ement system, whose purpose is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy use and consumption. Annexes There is one annex to this TSB. TIA TSB-5046 1 1 SCOPE This TSB provides recommendations

30、 for a process to establish, implement and document sustainable practices for manufacturers of information communications technology equipment and infrastructure. This process applies to the manufacturing of ICT products, administration, facilities and general operations associated with the manufact

31、uring of these products. 2 REFERENCES The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this TSB. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this sta

32、ndard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. 36、nications Industry Association TIA TSB-5046 2 3.4 Units of measure None 4 CERTIFICATIONS 4.1 Objective The objective of this clause is to ensure that manufacturers of ICT equipment have a strong foundation in quality and environmental management and have systems in place to maintain and improve stan

37、dards of sustainability throughout their company or organization. 4.2 ISO 9001 quality management Independent verification of quality management systems in conjunction with internal audits helps to establish valid processes used to assess the company or organizations commitment to current and lastin

38、g quality standards. The metrics required for securing and maintaining an ISO 9001 or equivalent certification varies by industry and product, but the certification itself is a globally adopted benchmark for management systems related to quality standards. Certification should have been assessed by

39、a third-party independent certification or accreditation body. Requirements of a valid certificate should include, but are not exclusive to the following: Certificate number Date of original registration Date of expiry Date of re-registration Reports in electronic format that address the required cr

40、iteria noted above should be available for three years for auditing purposes. 4.3 ISO 14001 environmental management The ISO 14001 standard addresses a company or organizations effect on their surrounding physical environment and is dependent upon compliance with applicable local, state and country

41、laws and regulations designed to support environmental protection. Independent verification of environmental management systems in conjunction with internal audits helps to establish valid processes to continually improve positive environmental impact while maintaining compliance with applicable env

42、ironmental legislation. The metrics required for securing and maintaining an ISO 14001 certification varies by available environmental regulation standards as well as internal performance measures set by the company or organization seeking certification, but the certification itself is a globally ad

43、opted benchmark for management systems related to environmental impact. Certification should have been assessed by a third-party independent certification or accreditation body. Requirements of a valid certificate should include, but are not exclusive to the following: Certificate number Date of ori

44、ginal registration Date of expiry Date of re-registration TIA TSB-5046 3 Reports in electronic format that address the required criteria noted above should be available for three years for auditing purposes. 5 PROGRAMS 5.1 Objective The objective of this clause is to recognize a manufacturers effort

45、s to be a responsible and positive member of its local, regional, national, and International communities. This effort can be demonstrated by having and encouraging a positive impact on employees, customers, suppliers, the marketplace, the environment, or virtually any relationship that can be influ

46、enced by the manufacturer. 5.2 Corporate social responsibility (CSR) program The manufacturer should have a well-established CSR program, documented in publicly-available electronic publication. Components of the CSR program should include documentation of the following: The values, ethics, policies

47、 and practices of the manufacturer; The definition of the environmental and social issues the manufacturer is committed to positively managing, including the acquisition and production of raw materials (where applicable), the welfare of staff, and product sales, use, and disposal; and The voluntary

48、contributions made to community development. 5.3 Employee health and safety (EHS) program Manufacturers of and material suppliers for information communication equipment should have a strong commitment to Employee Health and Safety (EHS), manufacturing safety and a commitment to minimize environment

49、al impacts from operations. This commitment is demonstrated by an active EHS program with proper documentation of the elements of the program. The administrator should confirm the existence of an EHS plan and compliance with quarterly reporting. Management should take corrective action when failure to meet objectives occurs. As a minimum, required elements of the EHS program should include the following: Detailed requirements of operational safety, and health and environmental requirements and objectives should be documented.
