The following docu- ment forms a part of this specification. Un- less otherwise indica

7、ted, the issue in effect on date of invitation for bids shall apply. CONSOLIDATED CLASSIFICATION COMMITTEE Consolidated Freight Classification Rules. (Application for copies should be addressed to the Consolidated Classification Committee, 202 Chi- cago Union Station, Chicago 6, ni.) 3. REQUIREMENTS

8、 3.1 Material. The rules shall be made of naval brass conforming to Specification MIL N-994. 3.2 Design. The rules shall be as shown on figure 1. 3.3 Graduations with figures, in inches and feet, shall be plainly and permanently stamp ed on one side of the rule. The rule shall be graduated from the

9、bottom. Numerals shall be 3/16 inch high. 3.4 Workmanship shall be first class in every respect. 4. QUALITY 4.1 Sampling 2 ASSURANCE PROVISIONS for lot acceptance. 4.1.1 Inspection lot. A lot shall consist of all sounding rules offered for delivery at one the. 4.1.2 Sampling for examination. A ran-

10、dom sample of rules shall be selected from each inspection lot of material offered for inspection with lot acceptance based on the following sampling inspection requirements in accordance with Standard MIL-STD-105. The sample rules selec- ted in accordance with 4.

12、1.2 shall be exam- ined by the inspector to verify conformance with the requirements of this specification. Failure to conform to the specification re- quirements shall be counted as a defect and the rule shall be rejected. If the number of such nonconforming rules in any sample ex- ceeds the accept

13、ance number for that sample, the lot represented by the sample shall be rejected. Rejected lots may be offered again for inspection provided the contractor has removed or reworked all nonconforming prod- ucts. 4.3 Material. The composition of the ma- terial shall be verified in accordance with the q

14、uality assurance provisions of Specification MIL-N-994. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging. 5.1.1 Level A. 15、pecification MIL-P-116. Unit containers shall conform to Specification PPP-B-566, PPP-B-676, MIGB-4229, PPP-%636 or MIL-C-3955. 5.1.2 Level C. Rules shall be preserved and packaged in accordance with the manufac- turers commercial practice. 5.2 Packing. 5.2.1 Leuel A. Rules, packaged in accord- ance

16、 with level A or C as specified (see 6.11, shall be packed in overseas type wood cleated . fiberboard, nailed wood, wirebound wood, corrugated or solid fiberboard, wood cleated paper overlaid, or wood cleated plywood boxes conforming to Specifications PPP-B- 591, PPP-B-621, PPP-B-585, (class 2 or 3)

17、, PPP-U36 (class 3), MILB-10377 or PPP-01, respectively. Shipping contain- ers shall have case liners conforming to Specification MILL10547 and shall be closed and sealed in accordance with the appendix thereto. Case liners for boxes con- forming to Specification PPP-B-636 may be omitted provided al

18、l joints of the boxes are sealed with tape as specified in the appendix of the box specification. Box closures shall be as specified in the applicable box specifica- tion or appendix thereto. The gross weight of wood boxes shall not exceed 200 pounds; that of fiberboard boxes shall not exceed the we

19、ight limitations of the applicable box specification. 5.2.2 Level B. Rules, packaged in accord- ance with level A or C as specified (see 6.1), shall be packed in domestic type wood cleated fiberboard, nailed wood, wirebound wood, corrugated or solid fiberboard, wood cleated plywood, or wood cleated

20、paper overlaid boxes conforming to Specifications PPP-B- PPP-MO1 and MIGB-10377, respectively. Closures shall be as specified in the ap- plicable box specification, or appendix there- to. Fiberboard boxes shall conform to the special requirements of the applicable box 591, PPP-B-621, PPP-B-585, PPP-

21、B-636, MIGR2784A specification. The gross weight of wood boxes shall not exceed 200 pounds, that of fiberboard boxes shall not exceed the weight limitations of the applicable box specifica- tion. 5.2.3 Level C. Rules, packaged in accord- ance with level A or C as specified (see 6.1), shall be packed

22、 in a manner to insure safe delivery and acceptance at destination. Con- tainers or method of shipment shall comply with the Consolidated Freight Classification Rules or other carrier regulations applicable to the mode of transportation. 5.3 Marking. In addition to any special marking specified in t

23、he contract or order, or herein, each unit and intermediate pack- ing and shipping container shall be marked in accordance with Standard MILSTD-129. 6. NOTES 6.1 Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following : (a) Title, number, and date of this spe- cification. (b) Depth of the

24、tank and length and diameter of sounding tube for which each sounding rule is re- quired. (c) Selection of applicable level of pres- ervation and packaging and pack- ing (see 5.1 and 5.2). Notice.
