16、e safety in buildings”, the secretariat of which is held by BSI. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by November 2016, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest
17、by February 2018. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN and/or CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the
18、European Commission and the European Free Trade Association. This standard is produced in response to the EC mandate M/385. CEN/TC 127 was requested to develop this test method to determine possible glowing combustion behaviour in building products. This test method forms part of the present EC clas
19、sification system for the reaction to fire. Task Group 6 of CEN TC 127/WG4 was created to develop this test method. In the early stages of its development, it was found that the term glowing combustion as defined in EN ISO 13943 does not completely characterize the specific combustion behaviour of a
20、 building product. In particular, the increase of temperature which is considered as typical for the process of smouldering is not considered in the EN ISO 13943 definition. Therefore the task group made a clarification and changed the term glowing combustion to smouldering combustion. Smouldering i
21、s defined in this standard as combustion of a material without flame and with or without visible light. This includes glowing combustion. According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard:

DIN EN 16733:2016-07 EN 16733:2016 (E) 4 Introduction This test method has been developed considering methods NT FIRE 002 and NT FIRE 035 and standards BS 5803-4 and norm B 3800. It specifies a test for determining the propensity of products to smou
24、lder continuously when tested in a vertical orientation. The method does not impose a mechanically influenced airflow through the test specimens since this would not represent most end-use conditions.
