It should be read in conjunction with BS6
11、910-1. This code takes account of the installation using complete joint packs and of items supplied separately, and puts an emphasis on requirements of the finished completed joint. In the installation, modification and repair of electrical systems it is necessary to join cables of similar and diffe
12、rent sizes and types. These joints, that of necessity are made on-site, are potentially the weakest link in the system if they have not been correctly made. It has been produced for use by consultants, designers, project engineers and supervisors who may not be familiar with the detailed procedure o
13、f on-site jointing of power cables in this range. It has been assumed in the drafting of this code that the execution of its provisions will be entrusted to appropriately qualified and experienced people for whose guidance it has been prepared. This code requires the use of substances and/or procedu
14、res that may be injurious to health if adequate precautions are not taken. It refers only to technical suitability and does not absolve the user from legal obligations relating to health and safety at any stage. Purchasers ordering to this standard are advised that BS5750 is the specification that i
15、dentifies the requirements of the quality management system applicable to the manufacturer. Reference to BS5750-2 in their purchase order or contract and acceptance of this condition of supply by the manufacturer will provide confidence that the quality system operated by the supplier incorporates t
16、he controls necessary to ensure consistent quality of the product. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. General 1 Scope This Part of BS6910 provides guidance on the procedures to be followed when making joints by the cold pour resin or heat-shrink methods in cables in the voltage range up to1000Va.c. and1500Vd.c. This code
19、describes procedures to be adopted for jointing packs manufactured in accordance with BS6910-1. It does not cover the problems that may be encountered if components from packs of different manufacturers are used in jointing. This code is limited to jointing on cables that are not energized and, ther
20、efore, should not be applied to the practice of jointing of live cables. NOTE 1Joints have been developed in different countries to cater for local conditions. Local climatic and physical conditions may require special requirements in jointing over and beyond the requirements detailed herein. Such s
21、pecial requirements should always be specified at the time of contract. Design and control of work 3 Joint selection 3.1 General Joints may be purchased as complete packs which will ensure that the jointer has all the materials he requires on site and stock control will be relatively straightforward. Alternatively the components may be supplied separately if fle
23、xibility of application is required. However, due to variation in number, size and type of conductor, connector fittings are normally supplied as separate items, Potential manufacturers or suppliers should be given full details of the configuration and types of cable to be jointed and will then be a
24、ble to make recommendations. Among the factors to be considered are: a) compatibility between the joint packs and cables, and where not provided with joint packs, the connector fittings; b) external size limitations; c) speed and ease of installation; d) ease of mixing of two-part or three-part resi
