7、ion of the Mining Requisites Standards Policy Committee and takes account of experience gained since this standard was first published in1982. It supersedes BS 6182-1:1982, which is withdrawn. In this revision the specification to provide intrinsically safe outputs suitable for use in coal mines has
8、 been developed to allow for alternatives to constant voltage transformers and for alternative power sources to mains. BS 6182 is published in three Parts and specifies a range of d.c. and a.c. power supplies and rechargeable battery units to give a power output ensuring both a minimum acceptable pe
9、rformance with connected apparatus and a maximum power output dictated by the requirements of intrinsic safety. BS 6182-2:1982 specifies requirements for power supplies providing a.c. outputs. Two output voltages are specified for the following purposes: a) a 12 V r.m.s. output to supply intrinsical
10、ly safe apparatus where maximum power availability is the predominant requirement; b) a 15 V r.m.s. output to supply intrinsically safe apparatus where a higher operating voltage is more important than available power. BS 6182-3:1982 specifies requirements for a range of rechargeable battery units t
11、hat are to be charged from the power supplies specified in Parts1 and2. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer im
12、munity from legal obligations. Attention is drawn to the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 1, the Mines and Quarries Act 1954 2, the Regulations made under these Acts, and also any other appropriate statutory requirements or Bye-laws. These place responsibility for complying with specific safe
13、ty requirements on the manufacturer and the user. 15、icated in the amendment table on the inside front cover.BS6182-1:1994 BSI 08-1999 1 1 Scope This Part of BS 6182 specifies requirements for the construction and testing of a range of power supply units intended to be certified intrinsically safe for use in coal mines and which provide an intrinsical
16、ly safe d.c. output as follows: a) an 18 DC type power supply provides a nominal18V output that may be used, for example, to float charge an intrinsically safe battery with a nominal discharge end-point voltage of12V; b) a 12 DC type power supply provides a nominal12V output for use where battery st
17、andby is not required, or to float charge an intrinsically safe battery with a nominal discharge end-point voltage of7.5V; c) a 7.5 DC type power supply provides a nominal7.5V output that may be used, for example, with equipment using logic circuits requiring5V for operation. It is intended that the
18、 components forming the power supply circuit be assembled on to a chassis that may be incorporated within either a flameproof enclosure or, where the power supply is located outside a potentially explosive atmosphere, within some other suitable enclosure. Requirements for these enclosures are not gi
19、ven in this standard. Guidance on interconnection with other apparatus is given in Annex A. In addition to the definitive requirements, this standard also requires the information detailed in clause 4 to be documented. For compliance with this standard, both the definitive requirements and the docum
20、ented item has to be satisfied. 2 References 2.1 Normative references This Part of BS 6182 incorporates, by reference, provisions from specific editions of other publications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate points in the text and the publications are listed on the inside bac

23、ircuit mounted on a metal chassis. 4 Information and requirements to be agreed and to be documented Information on the a.c. or d.c. electrical supply to the power units to be supplied by the purchaser shall be fully documented (see5.4).
