Now adult society is made up of men and women, so how can a segregated school possibly offer the right sort of preparation for it? 【 R3】_ A co-educational school offers children nothing less than a true version of society in minia
4、ture.【 R4】 _They are put in a position where they can compare themselves with each other in terms of academic ability, athletic achievement and many of the extra-curricular activities which are part of school life.【 R5】 _What nonsense co-education makes of the argument that boys are cleverer than gi
5、rls or vice versa. When segregated, boys and girls are made to feel that they are a race apart. Rivalry between the sexes is fostered. 【 R6】 _ But perhaps the greatest contribution of co-education is the healthy attitude to life it encourages. Boys dont grow up believing that women are mysterious cr
6、eatures, fairy goddesses, more like book-illustrations to a fairy-tale, than human beings. Girls dont grow up imagining that men are romantic heroes.【 R7】 _There are no goddesses with pigtails, piercing voices and inky fingers. There are no romantic heroes with knobbly knees, dirty fingernails and u
7、nkempt hair. The awkward stage of adolescence brings into sharp focus some of the physical and emotional problems involved in growing up. These can better be overcome in a co-educational environment. Segregated schools sometimes provide the right conditions for sexual deviation. This is hardly possi
8、ble under a co-educational system. When the time comes for the pupils to leave school, they are fully prepared to enter society as well-adjusted adults. 【 R8】 _ A. They have already had years of experience in coping with many of the problems that face men and women. B. In a coeducational school, eve

There are several reasons for it.【 R1】 _: some nations possess natural deposits in excess of thei

For example, Britain has large reserves of coal but lacks many minerals such as nickel, copper, aluminum etc. whereas the Arab states have vast oil deposits but little else.【 R2】 _Some products will only grow in tropical climates whereas others, such
13、 as citrus fruits, require a Mediterranean climate. Moreover, some nations are unable to produce sufficient of a particular product to satisfy a large home demand, for example, Britain and wheat. 【 R3】 _ 【 R4】 _It was found that it made economic sense for a nation to specialize in certain activities
14、 and produce goods for which it had the most advantages, and to exchange those goods for the products of other nations which had advantages in different fields. 【 R5】 _ This theory points out that trade between countries can be profitable for all, even if one of the countries can produce every commo
15、dity more cheaply.【 R6】 _The paradox is best illustrated by this traditional example: the best lawyer in town is also the best typist in town. Since this lawyer cannot afford to give up precious time from legal affairs, a typist is hired who may be less efficient than the lawyer in both legal and ty
16、ping matters. But the typists disadvantage is least in typing. Therefore, the typist has a relative comparative advantage in typing. In addition to visible trade, which involves the import and export of goods and merchandise, there is also invisible trade, which involves the exchange of services bet
17、ween nations. Nations such as Greece and Norway have large maritime fleets and provide transportation service.【 R7】 _When an exporter arranges shipment, he rents space in cargo compartment of a ship. The prudent exporter purchases insurance for his cargos voyage. While at sea, a cargo is vulnerable
18、to many dangers. Thus, insurance is another service in which some nations specialize. Some nations possess little in the way of exportable commodities or manufactured goods, but they have a mild and sunny climate. During the winter, the Bahamas attract large numbers of tourists, who spend money for
19、hotel accommodations, meals, taxis, and so on. 【 R8】 _ Invisible trade can be as important to some nation as the export of raw materials or commodities is to others. In both cases, the nations earn money to buy necessities. A. With the development of manufacturing and technology, there arose another
