2、F-87121 (TJSAF) 7 April 1979 MILITARY SPECIFICATION FABRIC, GRAPHITE FABRIC This specification is approved for use by the Air Force Materials Laboratory, MXA, Department of the Air Force, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This
3、specification covers the materials requirements and quality assurance provisions for an eight harness satin weave graphite fabric. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Issues of documents. effect on date of invitation for bids or request for proposal, form a part of this specification to the extent specified

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Physical characteristics. 3.1.1 Weave construction. The material shall be an eight harness satin weave graphite fabric. The graphi
9、te yarn used in the fabric shall be in accordance with MIL-Y-87125, Type I, 3.1.2 Yarn count. Yarn count in the fabric shall be as follows: Direct ion Ends / Inch Warp 29 to 31 Fill . 29 to 31 3.1.3 Weight. yard. The thickness of the fabric shall be 0,012 3.2 Composition. 3.2.1 - Volatile content, not exceed 5.0 percent by w
11、eight. The volatile content of the fabric shall 3.2.2 Carbon content. The carbon content of the fabric shall be 99.6 percent by weight, minimum, after the volatiles are removed. 3.3 Pfechanical properties. 3.3.1 Breaking strength. The minimum breaking strength of the fabric shall be as follows: Mini
12、mum Breaking Strength Direction (Pounds per Inch Width) TcTarp 100 Fill 100 3.4 Identification and marking. Identification and marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-130. Each roll of fabric shall be identified using a label affixed to the inside of the winding tube. The label shall contain the
13、 following information: a. Vendor serial number and lot number b, Vendor trade name C. Specification number. 3.5 - Workmanship. product which is uniform in appearance and weave construction. 3.5.1 Defects. The fabric shall not have more then 2 holes and 2 torn selvages per 3 yards of fabric length.
14、A hole is defined as a preforation 0.125 inch or larger. The fabric shall be woven so as to yiqld a 3.5.2 Contamination. There shall be no dirt, metal particles, or other foreign matte; present in the fabric. 3.6 Preproduction. When specified, a preproduction sample roll of fabric at least 100 yards

QUk,ITY ASSUTIANCF PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. .
16、- Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as other- wise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own facilities or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the i
17、nspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government, of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspec- tions are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. The Government reserves the right to perfom any 4.2 Class
18、ification of inspection. The inspections requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. Preproduction tests (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 Preproduction tests. The preproduction sample roll of fabric shall be subjected to the following tests: a. Defects and
19、contamination 4.5.2 b. Color 4.5.7 C. Identification and marking 4.5.10 . d. Workmanship 4.5.11 e. Defects and con
22、tamination 4.5.2 b. Color 45.7 c. Identification and marking 4.5.10 d. Workmanship 4.5.11 e. Preservation, packaging and packing 4.5.12 4.4.1.2 Sampling tests. From the start of each sample roll, take a one (1) yard + 6 inch strip of fabric and subject it to the foi lowing tes tsY a. Weave construct

When the fabric fails to meet any acceptance requirements, the lot shall be retested using double the number of samples. shall be rejected.
