6、procuring activity or as directed by the Contracting Officer . ) 3. REQUI REMENTS . . 3.1 Materials.- Materials shall be as specified in the detail specifications. Material requirements not specified in the detail specifications shall be as specified in 3.1.1 through 3.1.5. good appear= and finishin
7、g qualities, suitable for either natural or paint finishes. splits, cross grain and seasoning defects which may cause warping. 3.1.1.1 Plywood,- Plywood shall be Grade A Exterior and have a minimum of five plies or have a solid wood core. Outer surfaces shall be hardwood . and all plies or solid cor
8、e shall be free of voids. 3.1.2 Metals.- Metal parts, except springs, shall be limited to the corrosion-resistant materials listed under the corrosion-resistant metals paragraph of MIL-T-23991 or be of a material given a corrosion-resistant treatment or coating. . 3.1.1 Wood.- Wood used shall be sel
9、ect grades of birch or maple having Wood shall be properly seasoned, stabilized, free from checks, . 3.1.2.1 Aluminum.- Where the use of lightweight metal is required, aluminum alloy conforming to the aluminum requirements of MIL-T-23991 shall be used. 3.1.2.2 Solder.- Solder used for uniting struct

11、ments of MIL-T-23991. 3.1.3 Plastics.- Plastics used shall be durable, resistant to cracking, brittleness, discoloration, deformation and simi lar defects upon aging or when subjected to the environmental conditions of 3.3. be flame resistant and have good paint-adhering qualities. 12、asti c components shall be acryl i c. 3.1.4 Adhesives.- Adhesive materials shall be selected to meet the . requirements of 3.1.4.1 and 3.1.4.2. 3.1.4.1 Plastics shall Wood glue.- Wood glue shall be a type not adversely affected by moisture, paint or lacquer. 3.1.4.2 Cements.- Cements for joining pla
13、stics or for bonding plastics to other matemall be those cements recommended by the manufacturer of the plastic and tested by the contractor for strong bonds that will not be affected by the environmental conditions of 3.3. 3.1.5 Paints.- Paints used on metals shall be baked-on enamels or be equival
14、ent in color fastness, scratch resistance and elasticity under the environmental conditions of 3.3. Wood and plastic components shall be finished with satin-surface lacquer. All sealers, primers and vehicles used with paints shall be those recommended by the manufacturers of the paint. . 3.2 Design.
15、- The training aid shall be a visually accurate reduced . scale take-apart model of the operational guided missile represented. The scale, degree of stylization, simulation and configuration shall be as specified in the detail specifications. The training aid shall show the external and internal com
16、ponents and shall be capable of disassembly in the same locations as the operational missile represented. 3.2. 1 Tnterchangeabi 1 ity . - Al 1 components, parts, subassembl-i es or assemblies having the same part number shall be directly and completely . interchangeable with each other with respect
17、to assembly and disassembly of components. to the point where one or more of these parts is finished-machined after assembly. Thereafter, the subassembly as a whole shall be interchangeable with like subassembl ies. All parts of a subassembly shall be interchangeable up 3 Provided by IHSNot for Resa
18、leNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-3.3 Reliability.- The training ai shall be capable of withstanding handling by students for a period of five hundred hours per year for three years and shall not be adversely affected in any manner during assembly, disassembly or
19、 other handling, storage and transportation under ambient conditions of temperature ranging from minus ten to plus one hundred and fifty degrees Fahrenheit, and of relative humidity up to ninety-five percent. The training .aid shall be constructed so that no fixed part, subassemblies or assemblies s
20、hall become loosened or free under such handling and storage conditions and no removable or detachable part or subassembly shall bind or seize, such that no tools shall be required for assembly or disassembly during instruction in the classroom and no special tools shall be required for other purpos
21、es of disassembly and reassembly. 3.5 Construction.- The training aid shall be constructed as specified in the detail specifications. Construction methods or materials may be varied in order to permit more practical and economical manufacturing processes and tooling practices. The changes will. be a
22、cceptable provided. that these changes do not adversely affect the training value or durability of the training aid. All requests for variances shall be .in the form of preliminary drawings or data for written approval by the Contracting Officer prior to the fabrication of any component affected by
23、the variance. 3.6 Performance.- The training aid shall be capable of being assembled and disassembled repeatedly as described in the detail specifications without degradati on under the envi ronmental condi ti ons of 3.3, aid shall be as specified in the detail specifications. . 3.4 Maintainability.
