11、nal i _ Foreword This standard recommended practice covers the care, handling, transportation, and installation of internally plastic-coated (IPC) oilfield tubular goods and accessories (IPC material). Some internal plastic coatings are inherently brittle or may be incompatible with various chemical

12、s used in oil and gas production operations and therefore are susceptible to damage from poor handling procedures, well operations, and chemical attack. Coating damage (e.g., cracks, chips, and disbondment) reduces coating effectiveness and results in premature coating failure. To minimize coating d

13、amage and prolong coating life, special handling and operating procedures must be utilized with IPC material during all phases of storage, transport, installation, and operation. Following the guidelines presented in this standard will help users, oil and gas producers, transportation companies, wor

14、kover companies, and well-servicing companies and personnel to ensure the most cost-effective use of IPC material. This standard was originally prepared in 1991 by NACE Task Group T-1G-4, a component of Unit Committee T-1G on Protective Coatings, Elastomers, and Other Nonmetallic Materials for Oilfi

15、eld Use. It was reaffirmed in 1996 by T-1G, and revised in 2005 by Task Group (TG) 087 on Reaffirmation, Revision, or Withdrawal of STG 33 Standards and Technical Committee Reports. TG 087 is administered by Specific Technology Group (STG) 33 on Oil and Gas ProductionNonmetallics and Wear Coatings (

20、tallation of IPC oilfield tubular goods and accessories. 1.2 The function of the internal coating system is to form a protective barrier between the metal surface and the environment to prolong the useful life of the tubular goods and accessories. 1.3 If the coating is damaged during storage, handli

21、ng, transportation, or installation, the protective barrier may be broken. This reduces coating performance and may result in premature failure. 1.4 This standard addresses specific areas of concern to help prevent or minimize damage to IPC material during all phases of handling, transportation, sto

22、rage, and installation. _ Section 2: Definitions Applicator: An individual or company who performs the coating application. Corrosion-Resistant Alloy (CRA): Alloy material containing chrome, nickel, and other corrosion-resistant alloying elements. See Part 3 of NACE MR0175/ISO(1)15156.1IPC material:

23、 Internally plastic-coated tubular goods (tubing, casing, line pipe, drill pipe) and accessories (couplings, fittings, valves, mandrels, etc.). Plastic coating: A polymeric material applied to oilfield tubular goods (tubing, casing, drill pipe, etc.) and oilfield accessories (fittings, valves, packe

24、rs, etc.) that forms a protective barrier between the metal and the environment to minimize corrosion attack, contamination, and/or deposit formation. Transporter: An individual or company who transports the IPC material from one location to another. User: An individual, company, or authorized repre

25、sentative who makes use of the IPC material. _ Section 3: Preliminary Requirements 3.1 IPC material shall be handled by the applicator, transporter, and user in a manner to prevent damage to the coating, metal, and threads. 3.2 The applicator shall apply API(2)-modified thread compound to all expose

26、d threads on IPC material unless an alternate thread compound is specified by the user. User-approved, closed-end plastic or steel-reinforced plastic (composite) thread/end protectors shall be installed by the applicator on IPC material and shall remain in place during all phases of handling, storag

27、e, and transport. 3.3 Clamps, hooks, bars, rods, or other foreign objects shall not be placed inside IPC material. 3.4 Drifts or “rabbits” shall be made of rubber, plastic, or wood and shall be maintained free of debris that would damage the coating during drifting. Special clearance drifts may be n

28、ecessary to allow for coating thicknesses of more than 445 m (17.5 mil). API RP 5A52provides guidelines for drift dimensions for IPC tubing. 3.5 IPC material shall not be subjected to excessive bending, deflection, or impact that results in permanent steel deformation or coating damage. 3.6 IPC coat

29、ed tubulars should not be dropped vertically. _ Section 4: Yard Storage 4.1 IPC material shall be racked for storage in a manner to prevent excessive flexing or bending, and to prevent damage during loading and unloading. IPC tubular goods shall not be pyramid stacked (cradled) for storage. _ (1) In

RP0291-2005 2 NACE International 4.2 Three evenly spaced pipe racks shall be used to support IPC tubular

31、goods. The racks shall maintain the pipe a minimum of 460 mm (18 in.) above ground level. API RP 5C13and ISO 104054contain guidelines for storage of IPC tubular goods. 4.2.1 The pipe racks shall be placed on stabilized soil. 4.2.2 Bolsters (hardwood stripping) shall be used between pipe layers. Bols

32、ters shall be aligned vertically one above the other and directly over the pipe racks. Chocks (wood or plastic blocks, approximately 25 by 50 mm 1 by 2 in.) shall be installed at each end of each bolster. 4.2.3 Pipe shall be racked with all couplings or tool joints at one end. Adjoining lengths of p

33、ipe shall be staggered approximately the length of the coupling or tool joint. 4.2.4 Pipe shall not be stacked higher than 3 m (10 ft) in the storage yard. 4.3 IPC accessories shall be stored on wood pallets, concrete pads, or other suitable installations that prevent the accessories from being in d

34、irect contact with the ground. 4.4 IPC material in yard storage shall be inspected by the applicator or user a minimum of once every six months to determine the extent of external atmospheric corrosion attack. External atmospheric protective coatings shall be applied, if necessary, to control corros

35、ion attack. More frequent inspections may be required for IPC material stored in coastal areas. _ Section 5: Transportation 5.1 General 5.1.1 IPC material shall be racked for transport in a manner to prevent excessive flexing or bending, and to prevent damage during loading and unloading. IPC tubula

36、r goods shall not be pyramid stacked (cradled) for transport. 5.1.2 IPC material shall be loaded and unloaded in a manner to prevent damage to the coating. IPC tubular goods should not be hoisted from a single point, nor have any item inserted in the ends during lifting. Each piece shall be firmly s

37、upported and gently lifted or gradually rolled down sills. 5.1.2.1 The forks of forklifts shall have sufficient spread to prevent excessive bending or flexing of IPC tubular goods. 5.1.2.2 IPC tubular goods shall not be hoisted from a single point. Spreader bars shall be used when loading or unloadi

38、ng with cranes. Nonmetallic slings shall be used to lift IPC material. 5.2 Onshore TransportationTrucking 5.2.1 IPC tubular goods shall be transported on flatbed trailers. Pole trailers shall not be used. 5.2.1.1 For Range 2 or longer IPC tubular goods (as defined in API Specification 5CT,5ISO 11960

39、,6API Specification 5D,7 and ISO119618), a minimum of three bolsters shall be used on the truck bed and between layers, and shall be installed as outlined in Paragraph 4.2.2. 5.2.1.2 Nonmetallic tiedowns shall be used. The tiedowns shall be aligned vertically within 150 mm (6 in.) of the bolsters. 5

40、.2.1.3 IPC tubular goods shall be loaded with all couplings or tool joints facing the same direction as outlined in Paragraph 4.2.3. 5.2.2 IPC accessories shall be transported on flatbed trailers and secured with nonmetallic tiedowns. 5.2.3 Tiedowns shall be tightened to remove any slack due to sett

41、ling after traveling a short distance. For IPC tubular goods, additional tiedowns shall not be added without additional bolsters. 5.2.4 IPC tubular goods or accessories shall not be bent or bowed with the use of tiedowns. Tiedowns shall not be tightened in such a manner that coating damage or steel

42、deformation will result. 5.3 Onshore TransportationRail 5.3.1 IPC tubular goods and accessories shall be transported in open-type gondola cars. Compliance with the American Association of Railroads (AAR)(3)rules9governing the loading of commodities in open-top cars is required. 5.3.2 The height of t

RP0291-2005 NACE International 3 5.4 Sea Transportation 5.4.1 IPC material shall not be stored in or near bilge water, chemicals, or other corrosive materials.

44、5.4.2 Proper dunnage, including bolsters, stakes, headers, high-tension banding, and clips shall be used such that coating damage in transit is prevented. _ Section 6: Well/Job Site Storage 6.1 IPC tubular goods shall be stored on properly loaded flatbed trailers, wooden sills, or prefabricated stee

45、l pipe racks at the well location. 6.1.1 Old drums or other thin-walled material shall not be used as pipe racks. 6.1.2 Proper pipe chocks shall be used on both sides of the bottom tier to prevent rolling. 6.1.3 Equipment shall not be stacked on top of racked IPC tubular goods. Racked tubing shall n

46、ot be used as a workbench. 6.1.4 IPC tubular goods shall be racked with the couplings or tool joints facing toward the well. 6.1.5 Pipe shall not be stacked higher than 3 m (10 ft) at the rig site. 6.2 IPC accessories shall be stored at the job location on wood pallets, concrete pads, or other suita

47、ble installations that prevent the accessories from being in direct contact with the ground. _ Section 7: IPC Tubular Goods Installation 7.1 IPC tubing at the well location shall be visually inspected by the user prior to running. Joints exhibiting coating, metal, or thread damage shall be rejected. Thread protectors shall be removed for the inspecti
