The content of this Standard Practice is the resulting efforts of competent and experienced volunteers to prov
3、ide an effective, clear, and non-exclusive standard that will benefit the industry as a whole. This MSS Standard Practice describes minimal requirements and is intended as a basis for common practice by the manufacturer, the user, and the general public. The existence of an MSS Standard Practice doe
4、s not in itself preclude the manufacture, sale, or use of products not conforming to the Standard Practice. Mandatory conformance to this Standard Practice is established only by reference in other documents such as a code, specification, sales contract, or public law, as applicable. MSS has no powe

MSS STANDARD PRACTICE SP-129ii FOREWORD In 1992 the U.S. Navy undertook the development of a standard for copper-nickel socket-weld fittings that would be used with copper-nickel pipe. This standard
15、 allowed for maximum flexibility in starting material and manufacturing processes: casting, forging, pipe, tube, bar, and plate. This military standard was subsequently issued as Naval Sea Systems Command Drawing 803-6397430. In addition, elements (including couplings, elbows, tailpieces, unions, et
16、c.) of this Standard Practice were developed from Military Specification MIL-F-1183. This MSS Standard Practice was developed towards the recent trend, wherein military procurement activities use commercial material standards. Note that this trend was codified into federal law with the National Tech
17、nology Transfer and Advancement Act (NTTAA) of 1996 (as Amended), which requires that all Federal agencies use applicable privately developed standards, particularly those developed by standards organizations. Further, MSS SP-129 builds on the military standard by adding several common fitting confi
18、gurations with dimensions consistent with the original military standard. This 2014 edition includes revisions to Table 1, along with a reordering and renumbering of Table 1 and 2; revisions to Table 24 and 25 so as to better reflect NAVSEA Drawing 803-6397430; revisions, reordering and renumbering
19、to Section 11 marking requirements; clarification to titles for Table 16 and 17; clarifications and revisions to multiple tables header information; updated Annex A references; and included numerous editorial and formatting updates to the document text and tables, along with other revisions to provi
20、de clarification as warranted.
