This standard is used for the semi-quantitative determination of emissions for interior materials via Headspace-Gas Chromatograph -

3、Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). With the emission spectra: x Emissions of interior materials can be compared x Resultant emissions can be identified x Relative emissions can be calculated x Substances with regard to GMW3059 can be identified 1.2 Foreword. The test defined in this standard is designed to

4、evaluate the “emission“ tendencies of all interior and air ventilation system materials. The resulting rating “Relative Emission” influenced by the volatile organic constituents, liberated under conditions of high ambient temperatures and subsequently stays in the interior air, is determined. 1.3 Ap

5、plicability. All interior parts including HVAC ducts, trunk trim, and insulation having an air flow to the interior are included under this standard. For clarification refer to the responsible GM material engineer. All parts having an air flow to the interior with an area of 50 cm or a weight of 10

6、g shall be tested. For parts that are 10 g or the area is 50 cm the part shall be tested. The results will provide complementary information to GMW15634 and GMW3205. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are applicable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications

GMW3059 GMW3205 GMW15634 3 Resources 3.1 Facilities. 3.1.1 Gas Chromatograph (GC) with split/splitless injector and mass-selective detector, software and mass spectra library e.g. Agilent HP6890 and Agilent HP5973. 3.1.2 GC Capillary Columns. Low-Bleed Gas Chr

8、omatograph Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) Capillary Column, Stationary Phase: (5 %-phenyl)-methylpolysiloxane is used (e.g. HP Ultra 2 50 m x 0.32 mm x 0.52 Pm). 3.1.3 Headspace sampler, e.g. Agilent HP 7694. 3.2 Equipment. 3.2.1 Septum (non bleeding, heat resistant to +120 C). 3.2.2 Analytical balance (

9、accuracy: 1 mg). 11、able. 3.6 Personnel/Skills. Not applicable. 4 Procedure 4.1 Preparation. 13、erall “Relative Emission” and the “Relative Emission” of single substances. Using the chromatogram, the total area of all emissions is determined by integration. The area of the “Air Peak” is subtracted from the total area. The resulting net area is divided by the area of the “Air Peak”. From this c

14、alculation the value for the overall “Relative Emission” is obtained (the area of the “Air Peak” can be used as an internal standard). With this value, interior materials can be mutually compared. Each analyte with a “Relative emission” 0.001 has to be identified and its individual “Relative Emissio

15、n” shall be calculated. For the “Relative Emission” of the single substances divide the area of the single substance by the area of the “Air Peak”. Note: The assumed approximations of the calculation of the “Relative Emission” withstand the comparison to an absolute determination. Because of the con

16、siderable additional expenditure of an absolute determination over standards, the method described here is considered extremely efficient and sufficient. 5.1.2 Examination of Emissions with Regard to GMW3059. All substances with a “Relative Emission” 0.001 are identified using mass spectrometry. A l

17、ist of this substances and their individual “Relative Emission” shall be included to the test report. With the help of the library search report restricted and reportable substances according to GMW3059 can be examined, in reference to the substances. 5.2 Interpretation of Results. Not applicable. 5

18、.3 Test Documentation. The test report shall include the overall “Relative Emission” value and a complete list of the identified individual analytes (“Relative Emission” 0.001) with their individual “Relative Emission” values. Include additional evaluations as appropriate. 6 Safety This standard may
