14、 Scope This International Standard states the requirements for both self-healing and non-self-healing continuously rated a.c. capacitors of up to and including 2,5 kvar, and not less than 0,l uF, having a rated voltage not exceeding 1 O00 V, which are intended for use in discharge lamp circuits“ ope

15、rating at 50 Hz or 60 Hz and at altitudes up to 3 O00 m. It covers capacitors intended for connection in shunt or in series with the lamp circuit or an effective combination of these. it covers only impregnated or unimpregnated capacitors, having a dielec- tric of paper, plastic film or a combinatio

16、n of both, either metallized or with metal foil electrodes. This standard does not cover radio-interference suppressor capacitors the requirements for which are found in JEC 384-14. Tests in this standard are type tests. Guidance on conformity of produc- tion is given in annex A. * These lamps and a

General and safety requirements. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this IEC 1048 shall apply. 3 General notes on

23、tests All capacitors specified in this of IEC 1048. nternational Standard, the definitions of standard shall comply with the requirements Tests according to this standard are type tests. NOTE - The requirements and tolerances permitted by this standard are related to testing of a type test sample su

24、bmitted for that purpose. In principle, this type test sample should consist of units having charac- teristics typical of the manufacturerfs pioduction and be as close to the production centre points as possible. It may be expected with the tolerances given in the standard that products manufactured

25、 in accordance with the type test sample will comply with the standard for the majority of the production. Due to the production spread, it is inevitable, however, that there may be pro- ducts outside the specified tolerances. For guidance on sampling plans and procedures for inspection by attribute

Unless otherwise specified, tests shall be carried out at a temperature of 20 OC f 5 OC, using where appropriate a voltage source as detailed in annex B. Test temperatures

27、specified in particular clauses shall be subject to a tolerance of +2 OC, unless otherwise stated. Unless otherwise specified, the type shall be deemed to comply with any one clause if not more than one failure occurs in the test of that clause. If three or more failures occur, the type shall be rej

28、ected. If two failures occur in any one test, that test, and any preceding tests which may have influenced the test results, shall be repeated on the same quantity of capacitors and if any further failures occur, the type shall be rejected. For a range of capacitors of the same construction, rated v

29、oltage and cross-sectional shape, each group referred to in clause 4 shall contain as nearly as possible equal numbers of capacitors of the highest capacitance and the lowest capacitance in that range. Moreover, the manufacturer shall provide data on the ratio of capacitance per area outer total sur

30、face of the container of each capacitance value in the range. The capacitor with the maximum capacitance per unit surface area shall also be tested if this ratio exceeds that of the maximum capacitance value in the range by 10 % or greater. Simllarly, the capacitor with the minimum capacitance per u

31、nit area shall also be tested if the ratio is less than that of the minimum capacitance value in the range by 10 % or greater. “Area“ denotes total outer surface area of capacitor case ignoring small protrusions, terminals and flxlng studs. With this procedure the tests qualify all intermediate valu

32、es of capacitance in the range. NOTES 1 The “same construction“ includes for example the same dielectric material, dielectric thickness and type of case (metal or plastic). 2 “Cross-sectional shape“ means: round, rectangular, oval, etc. 4 Testing sequence A total of 47 non-self-healing capacitors, o

34、itial test shall be applied to ail the capacitors: - capacitance measurement in accordance with clause 6. The first group of 5 capacitors shall be subjected to the test for deviation of capacitance with temperature in accordance with clause 7. The second group of 5 capacitors, completed with the 5 c

35、apacitors of the first group, shall be subjected to the self-healing test in accordance with clause 16. This test is only applicable for self- healing capacitors. The third group of 21 capacitors shall be subjected to the endurance test in accordance with clause 8. The fourth group of 21 capacitors

36、shall be retained as spares in the event of a repeat test being necessary in the first three groups. 5 Marking The marking requirements of IEC 1048 shall apply, together with the following. 5.1 Period of manufacture, which may be in code form. 5.2 For unimpregnated metallized plastic film shunt capa

37、citors of 250 V rated voltage or less, with a tc not higher than 85 OC, the letter “D“. 6 Capacitance The capacitance of each capacitor when measured at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, as appropriate, shall be within the tolerance limits marked on the capacitor. Capacitance shall be measured using a method which ex

38、cludes errors due to harmonics. The accuracy of measurement shall be better than 0,25 % of the capacitance measured. The measuring voltage shall not be higher than the rated voltage of the capacitor; the frequency shall be as near as possible to the rated frequency. Measurement at other frequencies

39、is allowed, provided that the frequency dependence of the capacitance is very small. The measured capacitance shall not deviate from the rated capacitance by more than the tolerance marked on the capacitor. Compliance is checked by measurement. 7 Change of capacitance with temperature The change of

40、capacitance with temperature shall stay within acceptable limits. Compliance is checked by the tests of 7.1 to 7.6. = 3404583 0075668 79T Page 8 EN 61049 : 1993 7.1 Measurements of capacitance shall be made under the conditions prescribed in clause 6. 7.2 in turn: The capacitor shall be measured at

41、each of the following temperatures a) 20 OC 2 2 OC; b) rated minimum temperature t3 OC (CT min); c) 20 OC I 2 OC; d) rated maximum temperature 22 OC (CT max); e) 20 OC 2 2 OC. 7.3 Capacitance measurements shall be made at each of the temperatures specified in 7.2 after the capacitor has reached ther

42、mal stability. The measuring voltage shall be applied only for the minimum time necessary to make the capacitance measurements. The condition of thermal stability shall be judged to have been reached when two readings of capacitance taken at an interval of not less than 5 min do not differ by an amo

43、unt greater than that which can be attri- buted to the measuring apparatus. The actual temperature of measurements shall be measured to an accuracy of I0,2 OC. Care should be taken during measurements to avoid condensation or frost on the surface of the capacitors. 7.4 The change of capacitance with

44、 temperature shall be calculated as foiiows : x 100 for the rated minimum temperature; O -c T min O C x 100 for the rated maximum temperature; O -c T max O C where : is the capacitance measured at the temperature specified in item c) of 7.2 O C is the Capacitance measured at the temperature specifie

NOTE - The purpose of the test is to demonstrate that capaci

47、tors operating under intended conditions may be expected to have a life of at least 10 years continuous operation. Compliance is checked by tests of 8.1 to 8.7. 0.1 Initiai measurements The capacitance is measured in accordance with clause 6. For the purposes of 8.5 the tangent of loss angle shall b

48、e measured under the same con- ditions. 0.2 Thermal cycling The capacitors are submitted to 10 cycles of rapid change of temperature according to IEC 68-2-14, Part 2, Test Na: Rapid changes of temperature with prescribed time of transition, or 10 cycles of Test Nb: Change of temperature with specifi

49、ed rate of change. Minimum average rate of change to be 2 OC per minute. Each cycle shall consist of the following: 1 h at room temperature; 6 h at rated minimum temperature; 1 h at room temperature; 16 h at rated maximum temperature (tc). An a.c. voltage of 1,25 Un is applied to the terminals of the capacitors for the final hour of each of the cold periods. 8.3 Application of voltage at elevated temperature The capacitors are energized at a temperature of t, for one of the voltages and the corresponding time given in the table below, the choice being left to the
