20、, I ! 1.2 1.3 This Standard covers plain-end welded and seamless steel line pipe smaller than 457 mm OD with a specified minimum yield strength of less than 359 MPa, intended to be used for the transportation of gases and liquids. Note: This Standard lists values in SI (metric) units and conforms to
21、 the requirements of CSA Standard CAN3-Z234.1, Canadian Metric Practice Guide. Classification -Pipe manufactured to this Standard and intended to be used in pipelines as specified in GSA Standard Z183, Oil Pipeline Transportation Systems, or GSA Standard Z184, Gas Pipeline Systems. is classified as
22、follows: (a) Category I-Intended for pipelines not requiring specific notch tough ness properties; (b) Category II-Intended for pipelines requiring specific notch toughness properties in the form of energy absorption and fracture appearance; (c) Category III-Intended for pipelines requiring specific
23、 notch toughness properties in the form of energy absorption. Grades This Standard covers the following five strength grades of pipe: (a) Grade 172; (b) Grade 207; (c) Grade 241; (d) Grade 290; and (e) Grade 317. Note: Because of different manufacturing methods for different sizes of pipe, it may no
24、t be possible to obtain all of the pipe diameters and thick nesses shown in Table 6.1 in all categories of pipe and all strength grades, particularly in the smaller sizes of the diameter range with heavier waif thicknesses. The individual pipe manufacturers should be consulted early in the design st
