8、s Part I: Construction1.24 Installation Manuals1.24.6Installation manuals for installing vents, venting systems and provisions for adequate combustion and ventilation air shall include the following instructions:a. A furnace shall not be connected to a chimney flue serving a separate appliance desig

9、ned to burn solid fuel. (See Exhibit K, Items Unique to One Country).b. Provisions for adequate combustion and ventilation air in accordance with one of the following:1. Section 5.3, Air for Combustion and Ventilation, of the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54,2. Sections 7.2, 7.3 or 7.4 of

10、 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1, or3. Applicable provisions of the local building code.c. If the furnace is intended for use with a listed Type B vent or vent connector, the specified type of Type B vent or vent connector to be used with the listed clearances from combustible

11、construction. (Also see 1.27.9-e).d. For Category II, III or IV furnaces:The manufacturers instructions shall specify the type of venting material to be used, vent size, and the minimum and maximum vent lengths.1. When the manufacturer supplies the venting system, the instructions shall include a pa

12、rts list andinstructions covering the installation of properly identified parts to provide for the venting of the vent gases to the outdoors (see 1.2.25).2. When the parts for venting the vent gases are not provided by the furnace manufacturer and they are specific types listed by a nationally recog

13、nized testing agency, these instructions shall clearly identify and specify the use of the specific parts, and the standard under which the vent system components are listed. The instructions shall indicate that only pipe listed under the specific standard shall be used to vent the furnace. (See 1.2

14、7.6-f and -g.)e. For Category II, III and IV furnaces, the venting system shall be installed in accordance with the furnace manufacturers instructions.Copyright CSA America, Inc. 15、,-,-2f. When an existing Category I furnace is removed or replaced, the original venting system may no longer be sized to properly vent the attached appliances. Instructions shall also indicate effects of an improperly sized venting system (formation of condensate, leakage, spillage, etc.) and shall

16、 specify the following test procedure.g. If a furnace is marked, “Category I or Category III” per 1.27.3-b4, the installation manuals shall specify the venting system to be used for both categories.h. A Category I furnace may be specified as Category I or III provided the installation manuals specif

17、y the venting system to be used for each category. (See 1.1.12.)i. Instructions for proper venting installation:WARNINGCARBON MONOXIDE POISONING HAZARDFailure to follow the steps outlined below for each appliance connected to the venting system being placed into operation could result in carbon mono

18、xide poisoning or death.The following steps shall be followed for each appliance connected to the venting system being placed into operation, while all other appliances connected to the venting system are not in operation:1. Seal any unused openings in the venting system.2. Inspect the venting syste

19、m for proper size and horizontal pitch, as required in the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 or the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1 and these instructions. Determine that there is no blockage or restriction, leakage, corrosion and other deficiencies which could cause

20、an unsafe condition.3. As far as practical, close all building doors and windows and all doors between the space in which the appliance(s) connected to the venting system are located and other spaces of the building.4. Close fireplace dampers.5. Turn on clothes dryers and any appliance not connected

21、 to the venting system. Turn on any exhaust fans, such as range hoods and bathroom exhausts, so they are operating at maximum speed. Do not operate a summer exhaust fan.6. Follow the lighting instructions. Place the appliance being inspected into operation. Adjust the thermostat so appliance is oper

22、ating continuously.7. Test for spillage from draft hood equipped appliances at the draft hood relief opening after 5 minutes of main burner operation. Use the flame of a match or candle.8. If improper venting is observed during any of the above tests, the venting system must be corrected in accordan

23、ce with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 and/or Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1.9. After it has been determined that each appliance connected to the venting system properly vents when tested as outlined above, return doors, windows, exhaust fans, fireplace damper

24、s and any other gas-fired burning appliance to their previous conditions of use.Copyright CSA America, Inc. 25、nce with Parts 10, Venting of Equipmen, and Part 13, Sizing of Category I Venting Systems, CSA B199.1, of the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, and/or Section 7, Venting Systems and Aiur Supply for Appliances, and Appendix C, Vent Sizing Tables for Category I Natural Gas and Propane Appli

26、ances, of the CSA B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, the local building codes, furnace and the vent manufacturers instructions.2. If the instructions include provision for multistory or common venting systems, such venting systems shall be in accordance with the National Fuel Gas Cod

27、e, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 and or the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.1, local codes and the manufacturers instructions. The instructions shall specify whether multistory and common venting is permitted or prohibited.3. Fan assisted combustion system Category I furnaces shall not be

28、vented into single wall metal vents.4. Category I furnaces must be vented vertically or nearly vertically, unless equipped with a listed mechanical venter.5. Vent connectors serving Category I and Category II furnaces shall not be connected into any portion of mechanical draft systems operating unde

29、r positive pressure.6. Horizontal portions of the venting system shall:(a) Be supported to prevent sagging. The methods of and intervals for supports shall be specified in the installation manuals.(b) Slope upwards not less than 1/4in/ft (21 mm/m) from the furnace to the vent terminal.(c) Category I

30、I and IV furnaces, shall be installed so as to prevent accumulation of condensate.7. Category II and IV furnace installations, shall provide a means for drainage of condensate.8. For Category I installations, the furnace shall be connected to a factory built chimney or vent complying with a recogniz

31、ed standard, or a masonry or concrete chimney lined with a lining material acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. Venting into an unlined masonry chimney or concrete chimney is prohibited.9. For furnaces for other than recreational vehicle installation, installation instructions accompanyi

32、ng a direct vent appliance or other appliance that can utilize a side wall vent system shall include information on where the vent terminal can and cannot terminate, including:(a) A diagram as shown in Figure 15A for direct vent appliances or Figure 15B for other than direct vent appliances, or equi

33、valent, indicating vent terminal clearances A to M. The clearances marked on the diagram shall be stated separately for U.S. and Canadian installations and shall not be less than those specified in the current ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, National Fuel Gas Code or CSA B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Install

34、ation Code, as applicable. (See Exhibit K.) Alternatively, a separate diagram for each country is permitted to be utilized. For clearances not specified in ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 or CSA B149.1, the following footnote shall be included:“Clearance in accordance with local installation codes, the requirem

37、 cause damage or could be detrimental to the operation of regulators, relief valves, or other equipment.1.26 Users Information Manual1.26.1Users information manual shall contain the following safety information:a. Front Cover:The front cover shall present the user(s) with only the most important saf

39、S-,-,-5Furnace for Other Than Recreational Vehicle Installation OnlyThe letters used for the boxed warnings above shall be boldface type having a minimum uppercase height of 0.120 in (3.05 mm). The minimum vertical spacing between lines of type shall be 0.046 in (1.17 mm). Lowercase letters shall be

40、 compatible with the uppercase letter size specification.The front cover shall include a statement informing users that they must read all instructions in the manual, and must keep all manuals for future reference.b. Safety Section:A safety section shall be included near the front of the manual to p

41、resent furnace users with a listing of potential hazards and safety related instructions for a particular furnace. Statement of at least the following shall be included in the safety section with references to specific section or page of the manual.1. That the furnace area must be kept clear and fre

42、e of combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids.2. That the furnace must be kept free and clear of insulating material, with instructions to examine the furnace area when the furnace is installed or when insulation is added and advising that insulating materials may be co

43、mbustible.WARNING:FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARDFailure to follow safety warnings exactly couldresult in serious injury death or property dam-age. Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GASDo not try to lig

44、ht any appliance.Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.Leave the building immediately.Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbors phone. Follow the gas suppliers instructions.If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department. Installation and

46、r for combustion and ventilation, with instructions not to block or obstruct air openings on the furnace, air openings to the area in which the furnace is installed, and the spacings around the furnace.4. For lighting and shutting down the furnace. These instructions shall pictorially illustrate and

47、 locate all components referred to on the instruction label(s) (see 1.27.4).5. For a furnace equipped with a blocked vent shut-off system, information on the purpose and function of the blocked vent shut-off system. Include instructions to the user that, if the furnace fails to operate, they should

48、contact a qualified service agency.6. The following statement: “Should the gas supply fail to shut off or if overheating occurs, shut off the gas valve to the furnace before shutting off the electrical supply.”7. The following statement: “Do not use this furnace if any part has been under water. A f

49、lood-damaged furnace is extremely dangerous. Attempts to use the furnace can result in fire or explosion. A qualified service agency should be contacted to inspect the furnace and to replace all gas controls, control system parts, electrical parts that have been wet or the furnace if deemed necessary.”8. Instructions for examining the furnace installation to determine that:(
