4、r Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Field-applied insulation and accessories shall be as specified herein; factory-applied insulation is specified under the equipment to be insulated. Government furnished items as listed in the SPECIAL CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS
5、 shall be furnished and installed by the Contractor. 6、 standard products of manufacturers regularly engaged in the manufacture of such products and shall essentially duplicate items that have been in satisfactory use for at least 2 years prior to bid opening. 1.3.2 Installerls Qualifications Qualified installers shall have successfully completed three
7、or more similar type jobs within the last 5 years. 1.3.3 Surface Burning Characteristics Unless otherwise specified, insulation not covered with a jacket shall have a flame spread rating no higher than 75 and a smoke developed rating no higher than 150. The outside surface of insulation systems whic
8、h are located in air plenums, in ceiling spaces, and in attic spaces shall have a flame spread rating no higher than 25 and a smoke developed rating no higher than 50. perimeter are not required to be fire-rated. developed ratings shall be determined by ASTM E 84. Insulation shall be tested in the s

10、ials Packages or standard containers of insulation, jacket material, cements, adhesives, and coatings delivered for use, and all samples required for approval shall have manufacturers stamp or label attached giving the name of the manufacturer and brand, and a description of the material. After appr
11、oval of materials and prior to insulating any equipment, a booklet shall be prepared and submitted for approval which contains marked-up MICA-O1 plates or detail drawings showing the insulation material and insulating system for each type of equipment which is required to be insulated per paragraph
12、EQUIPMENT INSULATION INSTALLATION. The MICA plates shall be marked-up showing the materials to be installed in accordance with the requirements of this specification for the specific insulation application. The Contractor shall submit MICA plates required to show the entire insulating system, includ
13、ing plates required to show insulation penetrations, vessel bottom and top heads, legs, and skirt insulation as applicable. drawings instead of marked-up MICA plates, the detail drawings shall show cut-away, section views, and details indicating each component of the insulation system and showing pr
14、ovisions for insulating jacketing, and sealing all portions of the equipment. a description of each material type with all materials and insulating systems, in accordance with this specification. Each material and insulating system that is used shall be identified by indicating the specification req
15、uirement for the material, and the material by each manufacturer that is intended to meet the requirement. Three copies of the booklet shall be submitted at the jobsite to the Contracting Officer. copy of the approved booklet shall remain with the display sample and two copies shall be provided for

18、performance data, catalog cuts, and installation instructions. Materials furnished under this section of the specification shall be submitted at one time. A schedule indicating the product number, k-value, thickness and furnished accessories for each mechanical system requiring insulation shall be i
19、ncluded. 1.5 STORAGE Materials shall be delivered in the manufacturers unopened containers and protected from damage. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL MATERIALS Materials shall be compatible and shall not contribute to corrosion, soften, or otherwise attack surfaces to which applied in either the wet or
20、dry state. 21、Adhesives 2.1.1.1 Acoustical Lining Insulation Adhesive Insulation shall be applied in cut-to-size pieces attached to the interior of the duct with a nonfalmmable, fire-resistant adhesive conforming to ASTM C 916, Type I, NFPA 90A, UL 723, and ASTM E 84. Exposed edges of the liner at the duct ends a
22、nd at other joints where the lining will be subject to erosion shall be coated with a heavy brush coat of the nonflammable, fire-resistant adhesive to prevent delamination of glass fibers. 2.1.1.2 Mineral Fiber Insulation Cement Cement shall be in accordance with ASTM C 195. 2.1.1.3 Lagging Adhesive
23、 Lagging adhesives shall be nonflammable, fire-resistant in accordance with NFPA 90A, UL 723, and ASTM E 84. Adhesives shall be either the Class 1 or Class 2 type. Class 1 adhesive shall be pigmented white red and be suitable for bonding fibrous glass cloth to faced and unfaced fibrous glass insulat
