CGSB is engaged in the production of voluntary standards in a wide range of subjec

3、t areas through the media of standards committees and the consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational institutions, technical, professional and trade societies, a

4、nd research and testing organizations. Any given standard is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. The Minister?s Advisory Council on CGSB reviews the results of the consensus process. CGSB has been accredited by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standard

5、s-writing organization. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to standards it publishes as national standards, CGSB produces standards to meet parti

6、cular needs, in response to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and national standards developed by CGSB are developed in conformance with the policies described in the Policy Manual for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB.

7、CGSB standards are subject to review and revision at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement. which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the standards committees concerned. Changes to standards are issued either

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The towels and towelling covered by this standard shall be free from imperfections and blemishes that may adversely affect their appearance or

35、serviceability. For inspection purposes, imperfections and blemishes shall be considered defects when clearly visible at a normal distance of approximately 1 m under good lighting conditions. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS Materials YarnS a. Pile Warp - The pile warp yarns shall be singles, 100% cotton. b. G

36、round Warp - The ground warp yarns shall be singles or 2-ply carded cotton yarns, or single yams spun from a blend of polyester and cotton fibres. When tested in accordance with CANlCGSB-4.2 No. 14.3, the polyester content shall not exceed 65%. c. Weft - The weft yarns shall be single carded cotton

37、yarns or single yams spun from a blend of polyester and cotton fibres. When tested in accordance with CANlCGSB-4.2 No. 14.3, the polyester content shall not exceed 65%. Sewing Thread - Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). the thread shall be R 40 tex in accordance with CAN/CGSB-4.131 or CAN/CGSB-4

38、.139, Table 1. The colour of the sewing thread shall match the towel. e Construction Weave - The weave shall be a 3-pick terry. The ratio of feed of the pile warp to the ground warp shall not be less than 4 to i. Note: A ratio of 3.5 to I is acceptable for Class B crested towels. Selvages - The selv

39、ages shall be natural, pile-free and 6 mm wide on each side of the towel. Alternatively. towels may be multiwoven with a pile free strip separating each towel; this pile free strip when slit shall be turned in with the raw edges turned under (side hemmed) and securely lock-stitched or chain-stitched

40、 to form a 6 mm finished hem. End Hemming - The ends shall be pile free for approximately 3 cm. Each end shall be turned in and with the raw edge folded under, lock-stitched through 2 mm gauge to form a 1 cm finished hem. Stitching - All stitchings shall not be less than two and not more than four s

41、titches per centimetre. The ends of the stitchings, and any breaks in the thread during sewing operations, shall be securely backstitched. Design - The design (cross stripes, pile-free areas, coloured areas, woven identifications, etc.) shall be as agreed between the purchaser and the supplier as sp

42、ecified (par. 8.1). Colour - The colour of the towels and towelling shall be as specified (par. 8.1). When required to be white, the towels and towelling shall be given a full commercial bleach and shall meet the requirements for cuprammonium fluidity specified in Tables 1 and 2. Sizes - Unless othe

43、rwise specified (par. 8.1), the dimensions of the finished towels and towelling shall be as specified below. 45、 There is no restriction to tolerances on the plus (+) side, but there is a tolerance of 3% on the minus (-) side of the dimensions specified below. Class A Towels a. Bath: width 60 cm x length 120 cm b. Hand: width 38 cm x length 70 cm. Class B Towels and TowellUlg a. Bath: width 55 cm x length 110

46、 cm b. Hand: width 38 cm x length 63 cm c. Towelling: width 55 cm x 50 to 75 m per roll. Fabric - When tested in accordance with the specified test methods, the fabric shall comply with the requirements of Tables 1 and 2. Marking - Any required marking of towels and towelling other than the design m

47、arking indicated in par. 5.3 shall be as specified (par. 8.1). PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY Packaging and Labelling - Unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1) normal commercial practice of packaging and labelling shall be acceptable. It is the manufacturers responsibility to see that goods are packaged in

48、a suitable .manner to be delivered in an undamaged condition. INSPECTION Sampling - Sampling shall be left to the discretion of the purchaser, unless a specific sampling plan is specified (par. 8.1). The inspection authority reserves the right to perform any inspections considered necessary to ensur

49、e that material and services conform to the specified requirements. NOTES Options - The following options must be specified in the application of this standard: a.
