It is an adaptation of SAE Standard j560b, Seven-Conductor Electrical Connector for Truck-Trailer urnper Cab

34、le, for the physical dimensions of the seven-conductor electrical connector commonly used on highway truck-trailers, with wiring circuits and pin definitions conforming to ASAE Standard S279.9ISAE 1137, Lighting and Marking of Agricultural Field Equipment on Highways. trailers or other towed equipme

35、nt, and the receptacle socket on an agricultural tractor or other towing vehicle. The decision to adopt this SAEJASAE Standard for seven-pin electrical connectors as a National Standard of Canada is predicated on its current usage for agricultural tractors and related machinery. It should be noted t

36、hat the SAE/ASAE connector is not interchangeable with the ISO/DIN seven-pin connector commonly used in Europe. This Standard was reviewed by the Technical Committee on Agricultural Machinery under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Occupational Health and Safety, and has been f

37、ormally approved by these Committees. It has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada. Scope 1.1 This Standard specifies the physical dimensions and minimum design requirements of the electrical cable ptug and receptacle conforming to SAE Standard J560b, to achieve interchangeability w

43、ith electrical connectors of different manufacture. 1.2 These connectors are used with cable described in SAE Standard J1067 and wired for service as shown in Table 1 (as per ASAE Standard 5279.9). 1.3 The location zone for mounting of the receptacle on the towing vehicle as per ASAE Standard 5279.9

44、 is included in this Standard. 1.4 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. Values given in parentheses are provided for information only. However, for historical reasons, imperial dimensions are used in Figures 1, 2, and 3 with the SI equivalents being supplied for information only.

45、2. Definitions and Reference Publications 2.1 Definitions The following definitions apply in this Standard. Cable plug - cylindrical in shape and having an index key for ease of assembly, is attached to the end of the electrical cable. The cable plug houses the female contacts (see Figure 1). Recept

46、acle - consists of the connector socket, its housing, and a cover which latches the male plug in place. The socket contains the male contacts (see Figure 1). The location of each circuit is shown in Figures 2 and 3. 3.2 As a minimum, the receptacle terminal numbers 1, 3, 5, and 6 (ground, flashing and turn signals, and tail lights) shall be wired for service.
