For many years it has been agreed that body measurements should form the basis of a size labelling scheme, and such details were included in tabular form in both previous editions. When considering the present revision, however, the committee responsible chose not to retain the t

In addition to body measurements the approximate age of the child was asked for on labels and so to help manufacturers

Its retention in the present edition was strongly supported by the National Childrens Wear Association because many garments are purchased without the children being present. The primary aim of this and ot
18、her British Standards in this series, is the establishment of a size designation system that indicates (in a simple, direct and meaningful manner) the body size of the child or infant that a garment is intended to fit. Provided that the shape of the childs or infants body (as indicated by the approp
19、riate dimensions) has been accurately determined this system will facilitate the choice of garments that fit. The size designation system is based on body and not garment dimensions. Choice of garment measurements is normally left to the designer and the manufacturer, who are concerned with style, c
20、ut and other fashion elements, and who must make due allowance for garments normally worn beneath a specific garment. Definitions and body measurement procedure are prescribed in BS5511, which is applicable to all categories of clothing. 1 Scope This British Standard specifies a system of designatin

It is recognized that height is the basic control measurement for all infants and childrens garments and to aid users of this standard agreed height intervals are included. 2 References The titles of the standards publications referred to in this standard are listed
