16、BS3130-4:1976 BSI 10-1999 iii Foreword Part4 of this British Standard has been prepared under the authority of the Packaging Standards Committee and constitutes a further stage in the full revision of BS3130. Pending the completion of this full revision, BS3130 continues to be valid, subject to repl

17、acement by this new Part4 and by other Parts when published as revisions. In each section of the glossary the terms are arranged so that related subjects are grouped together. The sequence of terms depends, therefore, on their meanings and is not alphabetical; an alphabetical index is provided. In t

18、his revision all terms have been re-numbered, each number consisting of five digits. Each term has assigned to it a Part number (one digit) and section number (one digit) followed by a space, with the remaining three digits indicating the position of the term within the section. The complete revisio

19、n of BS3130 will be published in six Parts as follows. Part 1: General; Part 2: Paper and board packaging; Part 3: Glass containers and closures; Part 4: Metal containers and aerosols; Part 5: Plastics and flexible packaging (excluding paper); Part 6: Wood and textiles. 22、ition 41 001 collapsible tube A cylinder of pliable metal which can be sealed in such a manner that its contents, although readily discharged in any desired quantity, are protected from contact with air or moisture during the whole period of use as a container. 41 002 butt-ended tube A tube without

23、a nozzle, opened by tearing off the folded end, generally of single use type. 41 003 one-shot tube A tube which empties its contents in one use and is generally not re-sealable (see also single-use tube41004). 41 004 single-use tube A tube with sufficient contents for one use only. 41 005 extruding

24、The process of forming a tube from a metal slug or dump, which is a round blank of pre-determined dimensions and volume. 41 006 folding The doubling over of the flattened end of a filled tube to form a closure; usually combined with crimping. 41 007 saddleback fold A type of three-fold closure (the

25、normal closure is two-fold) in which the third fold is folded back in the opposite direction to the first two folds, giving the folded end of a filled tube a neat symmetrical appearance. Additionally, the closure is more secure. 41 008 crimping The process of forming wrinkles or corrugations on the

26、flattened and folded end of a collapsible tube to make a more effective closure. 41 009 end sealing The treating of the inside of the open end of a tube with a suitable resilient compound, capable of acting as a sealing medium when the tube is folded. 41 010 shoulder The sloped portion between the n

27、ozzle and the wall of the tube. 41 011 wall The flexible cylindrical body portion of a collapsible tube. 41 012 cap A screw closure or suitable friction-fit closure for the nozzle end of a collapsible tube. 41 013 plug-cap A cap with a truncated cone moulded integrally on its inside so that, as the

28、cap screws down, it closes the orifice of the tube. 41 014 spiked-cap A screw closure or suitable friction fit closure with additional integral means of piercing a membrane nozzled tube (seealso41019). 41 015 wad liner A disc of resilient material, inserted in the cap of the tube to ensure a seal. 4

29、1 016 wad facing A thin coating of metal, plastics or wax, selected for its compatibility with the tube contents, which is applied to the face of the wad. 41 017 nozzle The outlet of a collapsible tube, through which the contents are expelled by squeezing the wall of the tube. 41 018 canula nozzle A

30、n elongated nozzle for special applications, e.g., ophthalmic ointment or bovine intramammary injection. 41 019 membrane nozzle A nozzle which has the orifice closed by a thin diaphragm of metal which is capable of being pierced by a pin or spiked-cap (seealso41014). 41 020 sealed nozzle A term norm

32、e part in either metal or plastics attached to the nozzle of a collapsible tube when its contents have to be applied in a particular way. 41 023 orifice The opening in the nozzle of the tube from which the contents are expelled. 41 024 blind-end A nozzle closed by a membrane of metal of varying thic

33、knesses. 41 025 injector A separate part of metal or plastics attached to the nozzle of a collapsible tube for expelling its contents into an orifice. 41 026 embossing Wording on the shoulder of the tubes, frequently the name of the product or product manufacturer. 41 027 shoulder decoration A term

34、applied to the surface of the shoulder of a tube, which has a design, usually of concentric rings, machined on it. 41 028 coating The enamel surface of the tube. 41 029 enamel The smooth, hard, flexible, opaque and generally glossy external coating of the tube. 41 030 strippable enamel A coating whi

35、ch can be peeled from the wall of the tube as required. 41 031 internal lacquer A term applied to one form of internal coating of a collapsible tube. 41 032 lining The interior coating of a collapsible tube. 41 033 wax A material that can be applied for internal coating or end sealing. 41 034 printi

36、ng The process of applying lettering and surface design in printing ink on to the enamel surface of the tube. In some instances printing is applied direct to the metal. 41 035 over lacquering The application of a protective transparent coating to the enamelled and/or printed surface of the tube. 41

This form of head minimizes collection of foreign matter adjacent to orifice. 42 006 open-top full aperture drum A drum fitted with a detachable head which, after removal, provides an aperture usually of the full diameter of the container. The head

Both ends fixed by double seaming, welding or soldering. 42 010 double seam A joint incorporating four or more thicknesses of metal interlocked and pressed together
