6、ocument indicates when the document was last issued.BS 2S 136:1997 BSI 9 March 2005 1 1 Inspection and testing procedure 1.1 General This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections of the latest issue of BS S 100 as follows: 1.2 Sulfur printing or deep etching tests One
7、 sample shall be taken from each end of each ingot for sulfur printing or deep etching tests. 1.3 Ultrasonic examination !The material shall be ultrasonically tested in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 100, Annex B. “ 1.4 Decarburization If required, examination for and the amount of decar
8、burization shall be agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser. 2 Manufacture The material shall be manufactured by consumable electrode vacuum arc remelting. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be overall dressed. Bars for machining delivered
9、 in other than the finally heat treated condition Section 1 and Section 2 Forging stock and billets and bars for subsequent working Section 1 and Section 5 Forgings Section 1 and Section 6 Parts finally heat treated after machining Section 1 and Section 7 Element % min. max. 10、 0.15 0.40 Manganese 0.25 0.55 Phosphorus 0.015 Sulfur 0.010 Chromium 1.3 1.6 Copper 0.25 Molybdenum 0.1 Nickel 0.4 Vanadium 0.3BS 2S 136:1997 2 BSI 9 March 2005 5 Condition 5.1 The material shall be supplied in the appropriate condition stated below. 5.2 Parts shall be supplied finally heat treated
11、. 6 Heat treatment 6.1 Spheroidizing treatment The spheroidizing treatment shall be as follows: a) heat at a temperature of 820 10 C for not less than 6 h; b) cool to 700 C at a rate not greater than 10 C per hour; c) furnace cool to 500 C; d) air cool or furnace cool to room temperature. 6.2 Soften
12、ing treatment The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature between 700 C and 750 C for not less than 1 h, followed by cooling in air or furnace. 6.3 Final heat treatment 6.3.1 Except as provided in 6.3.2, the final heat treatment shall consist of the following: a) Hard
13、ening. Heat uniformly at a temperature between 820 C and 860 C, followed by cooling in oil. b) Tempering. Heat at a temperature of 165 5 C for 1 h, followed by cooling in air. 6.3.2 Alternatively to 6.3.1, the final heat treatment of parts shall be agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser.
