、Designation: D 706 05Standard Specification forCellulose Acetate Molding and Extrusion Compounds1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 706; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision.
、A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements for celluloseacetate thermoplastic compounds plasticized with either di-ethyl phthalate or d
、imethyl phthalate and are suitable forinjection molding and extrusion. These compounds have anacetyl content between 39 and 40 %. It does not includematerials compounded for special application. Cellulosic plas-tic materials, being thermoplastic, are reprocessable and recy-clable. This specification
、 allows for the use of those cellulosicmaterials, provided that all specific requirements of this speci-fication are met.1.2 The properties included in this specification are thoserequired to identify the compositions covered. There may beother requirements necessary to identify particular character

These may bespecified by using the suffixes as given in Section 5.1.3 This classification system and subsequent line call out(specification) are intended to provide a means of calling outplastic materials used in the fabrication of end items or parts. It
、 is not intended for the selection of materials. Materialselection should be made by those having expertise in theplastic field after careful consideration of the design andperformance required of the part, environment to which it willbe exposed, fabrication process to be employed, costs in-volved,
、and inherent properties of the material other than thosecovered by this classification system.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard.1.5 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest method portion, Section 11, of this specification. Thisstandard does not purp
