2、PE. 1.1 This specifi,cation contains requirements and provides quality assurance provisions for the fabrication of parts and the manufacture, assembly, and packing of the Ram Air Decelerator (RAD) for the M230 and M231 G-renade Fuzes. 2. Testing is described in the Quality Conformance Inspection Tables starting with 4.4.2.1. 4.4.4 Inspection equipment. The inspection equipment req

11、uired to perform the examinations and tests prescribed herein is described in “Paragraph Reference/Inspection Method column in the tables starting with 4.4.2.1. The contractor shall submit for approval inspection equipment designs in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-

12、48078 and Section 6.5 herein. The contractor shall submit all inspection equipment designs to the government for evaluation and approval prior to fabrication of such equipment., 4.5 Test methods and procedures. 4.5.1 RAD inteqrity test. The RAD Assembly Complete shall be brought to an internal press

13、ure of 270 5 2 psi within 13.0 + 1.0 milliseconds by pressurizing a lecture bottle (having an intrnal volumn of 27.5 5 0.5 CU. in.) to 490 5 10 psi and exhausting through a solenoid valve of sufficient capacity. In preparation for this test, it will be required to machine the center of.the Upper FWD

14、 Plate (P/N 9349235) of the RAD Assembly Complete in order to accommo- date a large input orifice (a T/8“ pipe fitting is sufficient). In addition, provisions shall be made to mount a suitably sensitive pressure transducer to the Lower FWD Panel (P/N 934515G) along the axis of one lobe at a distance

15、 of 2.0“ t 0.5 from center to allow for internal pressure measurements. A sample consisting of 0.1% of a production lot shall be randomly selected and subjected to this test. Any assembly that fails to meet the requirenents shall be conside.red a reject. A single failure shall reject the .lot. Any a

16、ssembly subjected to this test shall not be returned to the production lot. 4.5.2 Thermal shock. A random sample of RAD Container Assemblies shall be selected from each production lot and subjected to the Thermal Shock Test 113 of MIL-STD-331. The RADS shall not require special preparations prior to

17、 the test.
