3、and interconnection methodology for implementing a10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet switched network on a ANSI/VITA 1.1 VME64x backplane.AmericanNatiolSndarApproval of an American National Standard requires verificationby ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, andother criteria for approval
4、 have been met by the standardsdeveloper.Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSIBoard of Standards Review, substantial agreement has beenreached by directly and materially affected interests.Substantial agreement means much more than a simplemajority, but not necessarily unanimity

Consensus requiresthat all views and objections be considered, and that a concertedeffort be made toward their resolution.The use of American National Standards is completely voluntary;their existence does not in any respect preclude anyone, whetherhe has approved the standards or not, from manufa

The formal name of this standard is Gigabit Ethern
14、et on VME64x BackplanesStandard.ForewordVME became the industrial bus of choice in the 80s with hundreds of manufacturessupplying more than a thousand different boards to the worldwide market place.Thousands of customers utilized VME for an extremely broad number of applications.In the late 80s, the
15、 VME64 standard expanded VME for 64-bit data and addresscapability. This change also affected the connectors used at the plug-in module interface.The VME64 designers utilized IEC 61076-4-101 2 mm based connectors to increaseconnector pin counts and to facilitate the adoption of certain architectural
16、 features andcapabilities. The PICMG 2.16 packet Switched backplane specification adds a switchednetwork based on Gigabit Ethernet to CompactPCI backplanes. The PICMG 2.16CompactPCI P3 connector has two Gigabit Ethernet ports for improved performance andredundancy. The CompactPCI P3 connector and th
17、e VME64x P0 connector are identicaland have the same placement on the backplane. This standard adopts the PICMG 2.16 P3connector pin assignment for use on VME64x boards. This standard also adopts thedefinition of the fabric card described in PICMG 2.16. PICMG 2.16 compliant systemsand VITA 31.1 syst
