3、sories used in the sport of paintball. The warningscontained in this standard are intended for products that do nothave individual ASTM standards which contain product spe-cific warnings.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is t

4、heresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Terminology2.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:2.1.1 paintball marker accessory, na product which isdesigned t

5、o be used in conjunction with a paintball marker andwhich is sold separately from a paintball marker.2.1.1.1 DiscussionThis definition includes products whichare affixed to a paintball marker and used in conjunction withit. It specifically excludes other products which may be usedwhen playing the sp

6、ort of paintball if such products are notattached to the paintball marker. If specified by the manufac-turer that the accessory in question requires installation by aqualified dealer or specially trained individual these warningswill not apply. This standard is not intended to cover service ororigin

7、al equipment replacement parts.3. Significance and Use3.1 This specification specifies the minimum warnings thatare to be provided with or on paintball marker accessorieswhich are used in the sport of paintball.4. Conformance4.1 Paintball products shall not, either by label or othermeans, indicate c

8、onformance with this specification unless, atthe time of manufacture, they conform to all applicablerequirements contained herein.5. Product Marking5.1 All paintball marker accessories for use in the sport ofpaintball shall include a cautionary statement which promi-nently and durably conveys the fo

9、llowing information on thepackaging, the instruction sheet, or the product itself, or acombination thereof.5.1.1 The prominence of the statement shall be achieved byplacement within the borders of a rectangle and by use of asuitable contrasting background. The statement may be acombination of upper

10、and lower case letters of a recommendedsize being no less than 8-point type. The letters in the signalword shall be at least 50 % larger than the letters in other wordsin the cautionary statement. The signal word shall be in sansserif letters in upper case only and preceded by a safety alertsymbol.

11、It is composed of an equilateral triangle surroundingan exclamation point. The base of the safety alert symbol shallbe on the same horizontal line as the base of the letters of thesignal word. The height of the safety alert symbol shall equalor exceed the signal word height. The signal word shall be

12、 inblack letters on an orange background. The solid triangle of thesafety alert symbol shall be black and the exclamation pointportion orange. The cautionary statement shall have eitherblack lettering on a white background or white lettering on ablack background. When special circumstances limit the

13、 use ofwarning in two colors, the colors assigned to the signal wordbackground may also be used for the cautionary statementletters, provided that they contrast with the background colorof the product. When special circumstances preclude the use ofsafety colors on base materials such as wood, cardbo

14、ard, metal,plastic, etc., the marking used should (when feasible) contrastwith the background color of the base material.5.1.2 A signal word such as “WARNING,” “DANGER” or“CAUTION.”5.1.3 A warning that this is not a toy.5.1.4 A warning that misuse may cause serious injury ordeath.5.1.5 Awarning that

17、ommendation that a person be at least eighteen(18) years of age to purchase.5.1.7 A warning that users under eighteen (18) years of agemust have adult supervision.5.1.8 A warning to read the operating manual before usingany paintball marker or paintball marker accessory.5.1.9 The following example m

18、ay be used:WARNING: This is not a toy. Misuse may cause seriousinjury or death. Eye protection designed specifically for paint-ball must be worn by the user and persons within range.Recommend 18 years or older to purchase. Persons under 18must have adult supervision. 19、.2 In addition all paintball marker accessories offered forsale in the sport of paintball will have the following basicinformation included on the packaging, the instruction sheet, orthe product itself, or a combination thereof.5.2.1 Name of manufacturer or distributor and contactinformation for the

20、 entity.5.2.2 Country of origin or manufacture.5.3 All paintball marker accessories offered for sale in thesport of paintball whose operation requires batteries shallinclude warnings which convey the following informationincluded on the product, the packaging, or the instruction sheet,or a combinati

21、on thereof.5.3.1 A warning that to prevent fire or shock hazard, do notimmerse the unit in liquids.5.3.2 A warning that the disposal of the battery used topower the product may be regulated in your area. Pleaseconform to all local or state regulations with regard to batterydisposal.5.3.3 The followi

22、ng example may be used:WARNING: At the end of its useful life, under various stateand local laws, it may be illegal to dispose of the battery usedto power this device into the municipal waste stream. Checkwith your local solid waste officials for details in your area forrecycling options or proper d
