、Designation: D1351 14Standard Specification forThermoplastic Polyethylene Insulation for Electrical Wireand Cable1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D1351; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year o
、f last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers a thermoplastic insulationwhich consists substantially of polyethylene.1.2 This type of i
、nsulation is considered suitable for use onwire or cable that will be used for continuous operation atconductor temperatures up to 75C with a maximum conductorsize of 1000 kcmil (507 mm2). The maximum voltage ratingshall not exceed 35 000 V for power application or 9 000 V forseries lighting.1.3 In
、many instances the insulation material cannot betested unless it has been formed around a conductor. Therefore, tests done on insulated wire or cable in this specification aresolely to determine the relevant property of the insulationmaterial and not to test the insulated conductor or completedcable.

The sequence of othertesting is not specified.6.2 Partial DischargeWhen tested in accordance withICEA T-24-380, as modified in Test Methods D2633, eachlength of completed shielded power cable rated for service at2001 V and above shall comply with the minimum partialdischarge extinction level.
、 See Test Methods D2633.6.3 AC Voltage TestThe insulated conductor shall with-stand the ac voltage specified in Table 2 or Table 3 for 5 min.Unless otherwise specified, this test shall be omitted fornonshielded conductors rated up to 5000 V if the dc voltagetest described in 6.6 is performed.6.4 Ins
、ulation ResistanceThe insulated conductor shallhave an insulation-resistance value equal to or greater than thatcorresponding to a constant of 50 000 M-1000 ft at 60F(15.6C). When the temperature of the water in which theinsulation is tested differs from 60F, a correction factor mustbe applied. Tabl
