The intent of the standard is to achieve compatibility between the cartridge and automatic threading r

18、.1 formed a task group to develop standards for single- and double-core film containers. Later, both subcommittee PH5.1 and its parent committee PH5 disbanded, and AIIMs committee CI 1, Supply Items Committee, assumed work on developing standards for film containers and prepared the 1990 edition of

19、ANSIIAIIM MS15. The current, 2000 edition was prepared by committee C23, Micrographic Technology Committee, which replaced CI I. This edition of ANSI/AIIM MS 15-2000 fully replaces the 1990 edition. This revision to the 1990 standard includes a new Figure 2A to provide the dimensions for a reel that

20、 provides additional clearance between the flanges of the reel and the inner walls of the enclosed cartridge described in Figure 3. Reels meeting the dimensions in Figure 2 and 2A are suitable for all applications. Figure 3 has been modified to add di- mensions 2s and 2T. The addition of the 2s dime

21、nsion reduces the clearance of the flanges of the reel with the sides of the enclosed cartridge compared to the 1990 revision. The 2s and 2T dimensions are only necessary when an M style cartridge reel (metal insert drive) is housed in the ANSI/AIIM standard enclosed case. These dimensions are neces

22、sary to control the wide leader in the M style cartridge. It is not the purpose of this standard to generate image or film-quality standards, since these can be de- rived from already existing standards. Neither is it within the scope of this standard to address film-coding methods, since they are c

23、onsidered to be a determination made between the vendor and the user. Annex A is informative and offers additional information. Suggestions for improving this standard are welcome. This is a distinguishing feature as compared to the cassette, which has two cores. 3.7 Terminator A coupling device such as a metal clip, hitch, boss, or ear attached to the leading end of the film for threading purposes. 3.8

29、Threading Transferring the leading end of the film from the cartridge into the reader, around all idlers, rollers, and sprockets to the take-up device of the reader. 3.9 Trailing end of film The portion of film beyond the last images recorded (also called trailed. 4 Requirements for Cartridge Assemb

30、ly 4.1 General The following requirements pertain to the cartridge (figure 1 or figure 3) assembled with a reel (figure 2 or 2A) referred to as the cartridge. (All figures are after the annex.) 4.2 Configuration The cartridge shall meet the configuration including dimensions and other requirements s

32、 other film damage on a 3 meter (IO foot) strip of film that has been transported at maximum reader speed back and forth for 25 look-ups (50 passes). This should be compared against reference prints made prior to the test at the start, middle, and end of the film strip. Suitable testing and checking

33、 shall be performed to determine whether such scratching or film damage, if it occurs, is caused by the functioning of the cartridge or by the reader transport system. 4.4 Materials See also annex A. 4.4.1 Impact Strength The cartridge loaded with the equivalent of 30.- m (100 feet) of nominal 0.1 3

34、 mm (0.005 inch) thick film shall withstand the following test without rupture of the assembly and without impairment of use. Test: Drop the cartridge four times, once on a corner, once on an edge, and once on each face, from a height of 1.22 m (4 feet) on a level flat steel surface. 4.4.2 Test Cond

35、itions Testing to determine compliance with impact strength shall be done under the following condi- tions: 50 percent f 15 percent relative humidity; 23 OC k 5 “C (73 OF f 9 “F). Samples shall be conditioned to this environment for 24 hours before testing. 4.4.3 Compatibility All materials of the c

36、artridge shall be chosen so as not to cause loss of information on the film or loss of cartridge function (see annex A). Here firn refers to commercially available film at the time this standard was approved. 4.5 Lubrication The design shall be such that lubrication of the film or cartridge is not r

37、equired by the user. 4.6 Permanent Markings Any marking permanently molded into the cartridge body, either inside or outside, shall be flush or below surfaces. 4.7 Labeling Areas provided for labeling shall be recessed and located such that the information on the label is not vulnerable to damage fr

38、om handling and use. 4.8 Surface Finish The inside surface finish shall be free of any flashing or molding lines in the film path. 39、M MS15-2000 5 Requirements for Reel 5.1 General The following requirements pertain to the reel itself (figures 2 and 2A) as a separate unit. Reels that meet the dimensions of figures 2 and 2A are acceptable for all applications. In addition, reels conforming to the dimensions of figure 2A provide ad

40、ditional clearance between the flanges and the interior walls of the enclosed cartridge as described in figure 3. 5.2 Configuration The reel shall meet the configuration including dimensions and other requirements shown on fig- ure 2 or 2A. 5.3 Trailing End of Film The trailer shall meet the followi

41、ng requirements. 5.3.1 Length to Last image The length of the trailer to the last image shall be a minimum 700 mm (27.5 in.) as per ANSI/AIiM MS14. 5.3.2 Affixing Film to the Core A method shall be provided to securely fasten the trailing end of the film to the core of the reei. 5.3.3 Core-Film Secu

42、reness Criteria The fastening method used must withstand 100 stops at a velocity of 1.5 mis (5 feevsecond) us- ing a testing machine that exerts a tension on the film through a clutch that slips at 0.23 N-m (2.03 pound-inches). This test must be passed with all roll lengths and all film types. 5.3.4

43、 Test Conditions Testing to determine compliance with secureness criteria shall be done under the following condi- tions: 50 percent I 15 percent relative humidity; 23 “C & 5 “C (73 OF f 9 OF). Samples shall be conditioned to this environment for 24 hours before testing. 5.4 Leading End of Film The

44、leading end of the film shall meet the following requirements. (See annex A.) 5.4.1 Width Width shall be no greater than 16 mm as specified in IS0 6148. 5.4.2 Thickness Maximum thickness shall be less than 0.1 52 mm (0.006 in.) per IS0 61 48. 5.4.3 Length to First Image The length of the leading end

46、eading end of the film shall not have terminators for threading the film through the reader. 5.5 Separate leaders Use of separate leaders is optional. 47、e of leading end shall meet the requirements of 5.4. 5.5.2 Leader-film Secureness Criteria The splice must withstand 100 stops at a velocity of 1.5 mls (5 feetfsecond) with tension exerted on the film through a clutch that slips at 0.23 N-m (2.03 pound-inches), under the same test condi- tions as sp

48、ecified in 5.3.4. 5.6 Optical Compatibility Image placement, orientation, and winding shall be in accordance with ANSVAIIM MSI 4 as furtlicr specified in figures 2 and 2A. 5.7 Materials See annex A. 5.7.1 Flexibility of Flanges It shall take not less than 71 grams or more than 212 grams (2-1/2 ounce

49、s to 7-1/2 ounces) to pinch the flanges of an empty reel together 2.54 mm (0.1 inch) from their free positions. The force and measurement shall be applied 3.175 mm (1/8 inch) from the periphery of the flanges. The flanges must return to their original position after the test. 5.7.2 Impact Strength The reel loaded with 30.5 m (100 feet) of 0.13 mm (0.005 inch) thick film shall withstand the fol- lowing test without shattering and without impairment of use. Test: Drop the reel four times from a height of 1.22 m (4 feet) onto a level flat steel surface. The reel is dropped once on the edge of e
