(ARINC) and the Purpose of AR

4、INC Characteri sti cs Aeronautical Radio, Inc., is a corporation in which the United States scheduled air1 ines are the principal stockholders. Other stockholders include a variety of other air transport companies, ai rcraft manufacturers and foreign flag airlines. Activities of ARINC include the op

5、eration of an extensive system of domesti c and overseas aeronaut ca I I and rad o stat ons, the f u I f i I I ment of systems requirements to accompl ish ground and airborne compatibi I ity, the allocation and assignment of frequencies to wet those needs, the coordi- nation incident to standard air

6、borne communications and electronics systems and the exchange of technical information. ARINC sponsors the Airlines Communications Administrative Counci I (ALCAC), composed of the top air1 ne communications officials, which establishes the industry common interest communications policies. Air1 ines

7、Electronic Engineering Committee (AEEC), composed of airline technical personne I. The AEEC formu lates standards for e lectroni c equi pment and systems for the airlines. The establishment of Equipment Characteristics 1s a principal function of this Committee. One of the ALCAC standing committees I

O INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION 1.1 Purpose of this Characteristic This document is intended to set forth the basic requirements for Audible Warning Generat ors specifically designed for installation in all types of comer cia1 aircraft, including supersonic. The in

20、tent of this document is to provide general and specific design guidance for the development and installation of an Audible Warning Generator primarily for airline use. the specific requirements necessary to provide the desired operational capability and the standards necessary to achieve interchang

21、eability, Equipment manufacturers should note that this document aims to encourage them to produce maintenance-free, high performance equipment rather than equipment of minimal weight and dimensions. 28、ause only one switch and one light are needed to perform the required functions. 1.4 Interchangeability Requirements 1.4.1 General Requirements for Interchangeability One of the primary functions of an ARINC Equipment Characteristic is to designate, in addition to certain performance parameters, the

29、 interchangeability required of aircraft equipment- produced by various manufacturers. Manufacturers are referred to Section 1.6 of ARINC Report No, 414 for the airline industrys definitions of Terms and General Requirements for interchangeability. explained in that Report, the degree of interchange

33、erator Unit interchangeability is required for the generator unit, regardless of the manufacturing source of the individual items. 1, 5 Regulatory Approval The Audible Warning Generator must meet all applicable FAA requirements including TSO requirements. Manufacturers should obtain all necessary in

34、formation on these requirements from the FCC and the FAA as they are not stated in this Characteristic nor are they available from ARINC. 1. 6 Applicable Publications, Specifications and Reports Rather than tabulate herewith all of the reference documents, the reader is referred to ARINC Report No.

36、RED TO EFFECT INTERCHANGEABILITY It is of prime importance that the Industry establish specific form factors, mounting provisions, interwiring, input and output interfaces and power supply requirements for the Audible Warning Generator. These standards are necessary to ensure the continued independe

See Section 30.4 of 2.1. 1.1 Cooling Adequate cooling for continuous operation at the maximum ambient temperature required by the regulatory test procedures should be achieved by radiation and convection from the exposed su

COMMENTARY Far too many equipment failures have been, and continue to be, caused by the effects of contaminants finding their way into the “works“ via the “cooling holes“ in the case, The Industry now regards the cooling of equipment by
