13、l be employed in conducting such tests.NOVEMBER 9, 2001SUBJECT 21914INTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover portable cook stoves equipped with a self-contained butane gas fuelsupply. The fuel container is of the non-refillable type and has a maximum capacity of more than 4 fluidounces (118 m

14、l) but no more than 10 ounces (296 ml) of butane. The maximum capacity in pounds ofwater is 1.08 (0.49 kg). A stove may employ no more than two fuel containers. The fuel container isremovable and replaceable in normal use.1.2 The cooking stoves covered by these requirements are intended solely for u

15、se outdoors as campingequipment, or for use indoors in commercial restaurants where food is prepared at individual tables. Thestoves are not intended for indoor household use, nor are they intended for permanent attachment to themounting surface or for connection to a remote fuel container.1.3 These

16、 stoves are intended for use in accordance with the Standard for the Storage and Handling ofLiquefied Petroleum Gases, NFPA 58.2 General2.1 Components2.1.1 Except as indicated in 2.1.2, a component of a product covered by this outline shall comply with therequirements for that component.2.1.2 A comp

17、onent need not comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not needed in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this outline orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this outline.2.1.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating establ

21、elves or as mixtures where the vapor pressure does not exceed that for commercialbutane in accordance with the Specification for Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gases, ASTM D1835.CONSTRUCTION4 General4.1 Portable cook stoves shall comply with the following requirements of the Standard for Portable CampCook

22、 Stoves for Use with Propane Gas, ANSI Z21.72-1982, and ANSI Z21.72A-1984 :a) 1.2 General construction and assembly, except 1.2.1 and 1.2.11.b) 1.3 Materials, except for 1.3.4. Refer to the Standard for Gaskets and Seals, UL 157, fortests of non-metallic materials exposed to gases.c) 1.5 Gas supply

23、lines, except 1.5.6 and 1.5.7.d) 1.6 Gas supply systems, except 1.6.1, 1.6.3, 1.6.5, and 1.6.6.e) 1.7 Orifices and orifice fittings.f) 1.8 Burners.g) 1.11 Cooking tops, top covers, and grates.h) 1.12 Ignition devices.4.2 A fuel-confining part made of drawn brass or machined from brass stock shall wi

24、thstand, withoutcracking, the 10-Day Moist Ammonia-Air Stress Cracking Test, Section 15, for copper and copper alloys.4.3 A part threaded into the fuel-handling system of the stove at any point, such as a valve stem orclosure plug, shall be constructed to prevent removal by manual means or by using

25、ordinary tools.NOVEMBER 9, 2001SUBJECT 219164.4 All fuel-handling parts of the stove which can be directly exposed to the full pressure of the fuelcontainer due to pressure regulator malfunction (see the Abnormal Pressure Operation Tests, Section 11)shall have a design pressure of no less than 105 p

26、sig (724.0 kPa).5 Valve Operation5.1 A manually-operated shutoff valve shall comply with the requirements in the Standard for Valves forFlammable Fluids, UL 842. Except as indicated in 5.2, the design pressure of the valve shall not be lessthan the maximum outlet pressure setting of the gas-pressure

27、 regulator.5.2 A manually-operated shutoff valve on a stove required to comply with the Abnormal PressureOperation Tests, Section 11, shall have a design pressure not less than that specified in 4.4.5.3 A burner valve shall require not less than two operations, or other equivalent means, to turn it

28、to theon position, and shall require only one operation to turn it to the off position. A self-latching type valvethat has a push-and-turn or a pull-and-turn operating sequence, or that incorporates a detent feature toresist turning, is considered to comply with the intent of this requirement.5.4 A

29、valve that incorporates a detent feature shall require a minimum torque of 32 ounce-inches (0.226Nm) to turn from the off to the on position. Compliance with this requirement shall be determinedbefore and after an endurance test of 6000 cycles of on-off operation.6 Fuel Containers6.1 A gas fuel cont

30、ainer supplied with a cook stove, or recommended for use with a cook stove in thestove markings and operating instructions, shall comply with Department of Transportation (D.O.T.)requirements as evidenced by appropriate markings on the container.6.2 A gas fuel container shall comply with the require

31、ments included in the Standard for Nonrefillable(Disposable) Type Metal Container Assemblies for Butane, UL 147B.6.3 A stove shall have provision for no more than two fuel containers. If more than one fuel container isused, each container shall be connected to and serve a separate burner, and the fu

32、el containers shall notbe manifolded together.6.4 A stove shall be constructed to provide secure attachment of the fuel container.NOVEMBER 9, 2001 SUBJECT 2191 77 Pressure Regulator7.1 Each cook stove shall be equipped with a gas-pressure regulator which may be combined with themanually-operated gas

33、 shutoff valve. The shutoff valve shall be positioned down stream of the pressureregulator.7.2 A gas-pressure regulator shall be of the non-adjustable, single-stage type and shall comply with therequirements in the Standard for Pressure Regulating Valves for LP-Gas, UL 144.Exception No. 1: The appli

34、cable tests of the pressure regulator shall be based on a maximum inletpressure of 105 psig (724 kPa) or the maximum charging pressure of the fuel container at 130F (54.4C),whichever is less. The flow test shall be conducted at approximately 10, 25, 50, and 75 percent of themaximum inlet pressure. T

35、he endurance test shall be conducted at 30 psig (207 kPa). The freezing raintest need not be conducted.Exception No. 2: The pressure regulator is not required to be equipped with a relief valve or a shutoffdevice as specified in 13.1(a) or (b) of UL 144. The cook stove and pressure regulator shall c

36、omply withthe tests specified in the Abnormal Pressure Operation Tests, Section 11.7.3 When the pressure regulator uses a pressure relief valve to comply with 13.1 in the Standard forPressure Regulating Valves for LP-Gas, UL 144, the vent shall be constructed to discharge any ventedgas from the stov

37、e casing radially away from the burner. The stove shall be provided with a cautionarymarking which indicates that when gases are vented from this opening, the fuel container should beremoved at once, and the stove should not be operated until it has been repaired.PERFORMANCE8 General8.1 A portable c

38、ook stove shall be tested with each different butane fuel container specified for use withthe stove.8.2 Prior to the tests of the cook stove, two samples of each different fuel container specified for use withthe stove shall be tested under controlled temperature conditions using air or water immers

39、ion todetermine the resulting pressure at each temperature specified in note a of Table 8.1. 46、nlet test pressure, and one at increased inlet test pressure, as shown in Table8.1.9 Combustion Test9.1 Sample conditioning9.1.1 Prior to the test, the sample cook stove shall be operated at normal inlet pressure and input rate for24 hours total, with a 7-1/2 inch (191 mm) water-filled utensil place

47、d on a grate over the burner.9.1.2 Each cycle shall consist of an operating period of approximately 8 hours, followed by anon-operating period of 16 hours. Full fuel containers are to be installed in the appliance approximatelyevery 1-1/2 hours during the operating periods.9.2 Hood adjustment9.2.1 T

48、he water-filled utensil is to be placed on each burner grate. A flue collection hood, in accordancewith Figure 29.1 in the Standard for Gas-Fired Cooking Appliances for Recreational Vehicles, UL 1075,equipped with adjustable legs for height, is to be placed over the pan and burner. The burner is to

49、be firedand the hood lowered to the minimum height permitted by the burner grate or to the height slightly abovethe height that resulted in a noticeable change in the character of the burner flame. The area of the hoodoutlet is to be gradually reduced to obtain as high a carbon dioxide concentration as possible withoutaltering flame characteristics.9.3 Test Part I9.3.1 After the collection hood adjustment described in 9.2.1, the gas supply to the burner shall beinterrupted and the burner and water-filled utensil allowed to cool to room
