3、ttery-Powered Vacuum CleanersDECISION:2 Definitions2.3A Automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner An automatically controlled vacuumintended for household, dry pick-up, indoor use typically intended for automatic operation. Theseappliances are also known as robot vacuums. The automatic o
4、peration (auto-mode) is considered to bethe time when the robot vacuum is performing its programmed tasks through continuous programexecution. This type of vacuum consists of the robot battery-powered vacuum part and a docking station.The vacuum is typically provided with a motor driven brush for cl
5、eaning and motor driven wheels formovement, sensing devices/controls to determine the vacuums location, and sensing devices/controls todetect obstructions and stairs.2.12A Docking station A cord-connected charging unit providing battery charging capabilities to theautomatic rechargeable battery-powe
6、red vacuum cleaner. This is the base unit in which the robot vacuumautomatically returns, or is returned by the user, to charge the vacuums battery.7 Rechargeable Battery-Powered Appliances7.1 Scope7.1.1A These requirements also apply to automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleanersintended
7、 for household, dry pick-up, indoor use.7.3 General7.3.1 Components7.3.1.4 A lithium ion (Li-On) battery shall comply with the requirements for secondary lithium cells in theStandard for Lithium Batteries, UL 1642.7.3.1.4.1 Factors that shall be taken into consideration when determining the acceptab
8、ility of the lithiumion battery are:a) the ratings and acceptability criteria for the lithium ion battery;b) evaluation of multiple batteries or cells when used as a battery pack or integral battery; andc) the compatibility of the end-product, battery (cell or pack), and charger.UL COPYRIGHTED MATER
9、IAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL7.3.1.4.2 With reference to Clause 7.3.1.4.1, a lithium ion battery pack shall comply with the followingrequirements from the Standard for Household and Commercial Batteries, UL 2054:a) Abnormal Charging Test,b) Abu
10、sive Overcharge Test,c) Forced-Discharge Test, andd) Crush Test.Exception: An automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner that uses a lithium ion battery orbattery pack shall comply with all the requirements in the Standard for Lithium Ion Battery Systems for Usein Electric Power Tool and
11、Motor Operated, Heating and Lighting Appliances, UL 2575. Compliance to UL2575 is to be determined by evaluating the appliance in conjunction with this end product standard.7.3.1.5 A docking (charging) station of an automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner shallcomply with:a) The Standa
12、rd for Power Supplies with Extra-Low-Voltage Class 2 Outputs, C22.2 No. 223and the Standard for Class 2 Power Units, UL 1310; orb) The Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety - Part 1: GeneralRequirements, C22.2 No. 60950-1 and the Standard for Information Technology EquipmentSafety - P
13、art 1: General Requirements, UL 60950-1 with an output marked Class 2 or thatcomplies with the limited power source (LPS) requirements and is marked LPS.7.3.1.6 For an automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner, electronic motor protection shallcomply with the Standard for Motors with Inh
14、erent Overheating Protection, C22.2 No. 77 and the Standardfor Electronically Protected Motors, UL 1004-7. See the Exception to Clause 7.4.6.1.7.4 Construction7.4.2 Enclosures7.4.2.2 With respect to Clause 4.1.5, an automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner isconsidered an unattended app
15、liance.7.4.6 Motors7.4.6.1 The requirements in Clause 4.8 covering motors do not apply (see Clause 7.5.11.5).Exception: Motors used in the robot vacuum part of an automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuumcleaner shall comply with Clause 4.8.3. The motor overload tests shall commence with a fully
16、 chargedbattery assembly, and the test shall be terminated when the battery is fully discharged. See Clause7.3.1.6.7.4.10 Functional safety automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner7.4.10.1. The robot vacuum part of an automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner shall beprovide

18、um is lifted from the surface being cleaned;c) Edge control that senses a critical edge and prevents the vacuum from falling off thecleaning surface (e.g. stairways);d) Obstruction control that senses obstructions and prevents accessible moving parts of thevacuum capable of causing injury from inadv
19、ertently coming in contact with persons or theirbody parts (e.g. fingers, toes, hair, etc.); ande) Battery low voltage control that disables the operation of the vacuum when the battery isdischarged to a voltage level in which the controls specified in 7.4.10.1b) d) cannot functionas intended.7.4.10
20、.2 To determine compliance with 7.4.10.1, the appliance shall be evaluated in accordance withClauses 7.4.10.3 and 7.5.16.7.4.10.3 An electronic control(s) used to determine compliance with Clause 7.4.10.1b) e), shall beevaluated as a protective control in accordance with the Standard for Automatic E
21、lectrical Controls forHousehold and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, E60730-1 and the Standard for AutomaticElectrical Controls for Household and Similar Use, Part 1: General Requirements, UL 60730-1.7.4.10.3.1 With respect to Clause 7.4.10.3, the following test parameters shall be among t
22、he itemsconsidered when judging the performance and reliability of an electronic protective control investigated inaccordance with Clause 7.4.10.3:a) Failure-Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) or equivalent Risk Analysis method;b) Power Supply Voltage Dips, Variation and Interruptions within a temperat
