32、requirements. This requires that tests be performed to identify and resolve any insufficiencies in selected areas in terms of either the level of detail provided or the extent to which particular areas are open to differing interpretations. The objective in providing guidelines for testing, and docu

33、menting what is learned, will be to ensure that all equipment suppliers, application developers and Service Providers have the same information to work from, thereby enabling subscriber devices to freely interoperate on a seamless nationwide network. 2 Goals In brief, these tests are intended to acc

34、omplish the following: o Identify those areas of IS-732 which are deficient andor require clarification to ensure interoperability. in a time frame sufficient to allow the Specification Team to develop appropriate resolution for publication in next revision of IS-732 1021-1 STDpEIA TSB87-1021-ENGL 1

36、c M-ESinetwork infrastructure combinations, and service provider implementations, that have successfully demonstrated interoperability. Suppliers and Service Providers who later enter the process will be required to demonstrate that they conform with this golden matrix. Demonstrate ability to take a

37、 M-ES from one city/CDPD system to another city/system (visit) and have it successfully register for service, and exchange packets with another End System Demonstrate ability for Service Providers to exchange appropriate registration, authentication and accounting information to support the visiting

38、 M-ES As a result of above, develop public confidence with key M-ES developers, application developers and potential customers that CDPD is real, and that they can develop products or choose CDPD to support their businesses without fear that interoperability will not happen or may be years away. Con

39、ceptual Definition of Testing Process Initial phase should focus on minimum necessary functionality to provide basic transport service among/between Service Providers. More complex functionality, additional features and permutations of different equipment, End Systems. Service Providers, etc. should

40、 then follow. The test process will be bilateral testing between pairs of Service Providers. Simplifjhg assumptions should be used where possible (e.g., start with a single M-ES agreeable to both parties, and then expand upon this.) It is possible to accelerate the process via a “divide and conquer“

41、 approach - i.e., one team can focus initially on getting the RDR/RDC process working, while another team focuses on getting two Service Providers MTAs communicating basic messages back and forth. Once this has happened, we can then work on exchange of Traffic Matrix Segments over this X.400 link. T

42、est approach should focus initially on the “happy path“-emphasis on what happens if everything works right. Once this has been established, we can then test how error conditions are handled. Test process will follow a phased testing approach: o o o Phase I: Minimum functionality for basic transport

44、.2 Participation will be limited to M-ES and infrastructure suppliers who have fully engaged, and are currently working with one or more Service Providers in their implementations. a. Each Service Provider must have performed adequate internai testing to ensure readiness for interconnection with ano
