13、floor scrubbers and suction polishers) for light industrial use, that have motors of rated input not exceeding 2 000 W and a track width not exceeding 500 mm and that are intended for operation at voltages not exceeding 250 V to earth. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provision

Amdt 4 3 Definitions For the purposes of this part of SANS 1582, the following definitions apply: 3.1 acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concl

21、uding the purchase contract, as relevant Amdt 3 3.2 appliance an electrically operated floor polisher, including accessories, that is one of or a combination of the following: a) floor polisher; b) suction polisher; and c) floor scrubber. 3.3 dead mans switch a switch that will automatically render

22、the floor polisher inoperative either in the event of an operators losing control over the appliance for any reason, or when the polisher is left unattended 3.4 double stroke one forward and one return movement of the brush(es) of a floor polisher over a test area 3.5 forward stroke the forward move

23、ment during a double stroke 3.6 lot the number of floor polishers for which verification of quality is sought 3.7 normal load a continuous movement of a floor polisher in simple harmonic motion at 15 double strokes per minute with a stroke length of 1 m on a polished steel plate 3.8 parallel pattern

24、 a pattern of movement of the brush(es) of a floor polisher, where the forward and the return strokes coincide 3.9 rated voltage the input voltage assigned to the floor polisher by the manufacturer SANS 1582-2:2008 Edition 1.4 5 3.10 return stroke the return movement during a double stroke 3.11 stro

25、ke length the horizontal distance travelled by the brush or head of a floor polisher during a forward stroke (see figure 1) 3.12 stroke speed the mean value of the speed during one stroke 3.13 track width the width of the visible track left when the brush(es) of a floor polisher is/are pushed with a

26、 forward stroke over a test surface, with the brush(es) of the floor polisher in full contact with the surface (see figure 1) 3.14 visible to the naked eye visible without the use of any special or additional visual aid (e.g. a magnifying glass) other than spectacles worn to correct vision 4 Safety

27、requirement Floor polishers shall comply with SANS 60335-2-67. Amdt 4 5 Constructional requirements 5.1 Materials and finishes All external surface finishes shall be acceptably durable, colourfast, scratch resistant, smooth, washable and resistant to damage from whatever cause likely to be encounter

28、ed in normal operation, whether mechanical, electrical or thermal or by moisture or treatment liquids. Metals and alloys that are used in the construction of a floor polisher and that are not intrinsically corrosion resistant shall be acceptably protected against corrosion. Amdt 2 5.2 Workmanship Th

29、e quality of the workmanship shall be such as to be acceptable. 5.3 Construction 5.3.1 Resistance to impact When a floor polisher is tested in accordance with 8.9, a) the surface shall show no sign of damage or cracks visible to the naked eye, or surface cracks in fibre-reinforced mouldings and the

30、like; and b) live parts shall not become a hazard. SANS 1582-2:2008 Edition 1.4 6 5.3.2 Durability of brushes and accessories When tested in accordance with 8.3, rotating brushes and similar accessories shall not be damaged to the extent that they can no longer acceptably perform their function. Aft

31、er the floor polisher has been tested in accordance with 8.7, the brushes shall not have worn down by more than 25 %. 5.3.3 Flexing of wiring Where wiring flexes through up and down movement of the handle, the radius of curvature of the wiring at any stage shall not be less than 15 mm. Acute flexing

32、 of supply wiring shall be prevented and relief from strain shall be provided at and near the point where the cord enters the unit or an appliance connector. 5.4 Components 5.4.1 Appliance couplers Appliance couplers shall comply with the relevant requirements of SANS 60320-1. Amdt 2; amdt 4 5.4.2 S

33、upply wiring Supply wiring shall be fitted with an appropriate plug that complies with SANS 164-1. 5.4.3 Flexible cords A flexible cord of length at least 12 m, of nominal cross-sectional area 1,5 mm2and that complies with the relevant requirements of SANS 60227-5 shall be provided. An acceptable ea

34、sy means of cord storage or retraction shall be provided. Amdt 2; amdt 4 5.4.4 Internal wiring Sheathed cables used for internal wiring shall comply with either SANS 1574-4, SANS 60227-5 or SANS 529, as relevant. Amdt 2; amdt 4 5.4.5 Switches Any manually operated switch incorporated in a floor poli

35、sher shall comply with the relevant requirements of SANS 61058-1. Amdt 2 5.5 Brushes and accessories Brushes and accessories shall either be supplied with the floor polisher or be readily available. They shall be easily replaceable without the use of tools. 5.6 Operating handle A floor polisher shal

36、l have a T-bar handle and shall be easily operated by means of the handle. The handle shall be fitted with: a) a dead mans switch (see 3.3); b) a means of preventing the floor polisher from operating when the handle is in the vertical position; and SANS 1582-2:2008 Edition 1.4 7 c) a means of adjust

37、ing the position of the handle. 5.7 Suction If a floor polisher is fitted with a means of suction, a) the means of suction shall discharge into a detachable dustproof bag; and b) the floor polisher shall have a sealing plate or other acceptable means of sealing the opening to the dustproof bag when

38、the floor polisher is used for wet scrubbing. 5.8 Other components A floor polisher shall have: a) two or more acceptable wheels; b) an acceptable all-round shock-absorbing bumper; and c) a means of carrying if the mass of the floor polisher exceeds 25 kg. 6 Electrical and performance requirements 6

39、.1 Floor polishing ability NOTE This requirement does not apply to floor scrubbers. When an appliance is tested in accordance with 8.4, the glossmeter readings shall be at least a) 60 for basic polishing, and b) 80 for superpolishing (see 8.4.2.4), when relevant. 6.2 Motion resistance When a floor p

40、olisher is tested in accordance with 8.5, the motion resistance shall not exceed 20 N. 6.3 Drifting force When a floor polisher is tested in accordance with 8.6, the drifting force shall not exceed 20 N. 6.4 Endurance 6.4.1 General When a floor polisher is tested in accordance with 8.7, it shall not

41、 break down or show any sign of malfunction. 6.4.2 Handle and wheels When a floor polisher is tested in accordance with 8.8, the handles and wheels shall not break down or show any sign of malfunction. SANS 1582-2:2008 Edition 1.4 8 6.5 Sound level When measured in accordance with IEC 60704-1, the A

42、-weighted sound pressure level of a floor polisher shall not exceed the value stated by the manufacturer (see 7.2(d). Amdt 2 6.6 Suction polishers A suction polisher shall comply with all the relevant requirements of SANS 1582-1. 7 Packing and marking 7.1 Packing Floor polishers and their accessorie

43、s shall be so packed as to be protected from damage during normal transportation and storage. 7.2 Marking Each floor polisher shall bear the marking required by SANS 60335-2-67, and the following information legibly and indelibly marked in English: Amdt 3; amdt 4 a) the name or trade name or registe

44、red trade mark of the manufacturer or the supplier; b) the model or commercial designation (or both) of the floor polisher; c) the serial number; and d) the A-weighted sound pressure level, in decibels. 7.3 Operating instructions A leaflet or booklet giving detailed operating and maintenance instruc

45、tions in English shall be supplied with each floor polisher. (See also annex B.) Amdt 38 Inspection and methods of test 8.1 Inspection Visually examine and then measure each floor polisher for compliance with all the requirements of this part of SANS 1582 for which tests to assess compliance are not

46、 given in 8.3 to 8.9 (inclusive). 8.2 Test conditions Unless otherwise specified, conduct the tests in the order given and under the following conditions: a) carry out the tests at an ambient temperature of 25 C 2 C, a relative humidity in the range 45 % to 70 % and an atmospheric pressure in the ra

47、nge 86 kPa to 106 kPa; b) carry out the tests using a power supply at the rated voltage of the floor polisher, but for a floor polisher with a rated voltage range, use a supply at the mean value of the voltage range. If the difference between the upper and lower voltage limits exceeds 10 % of the me

48、an value, then perform the tests on two floor polishers, testing one at the upper voltage limit and the other at the lower voltage limit; and c) before starting the tests, operate the floor polisher under normal load (i.e. on the test apparatus described in 8.7.1) for a period of 2 h. 49、08 Edition 1.4 9 8.3 Test for durability of brushes and accessories 8.3.1 Apparatus Rotating drum, as shown in figure 2, made of sheet steel and having an access door. The floor of the drum is completely lined with oak of thickness 20 mm. The drum rotates at a speed of approximately 5 r/min. 8.3.2 Procedure NOTE Only one brush or accessory is tested at a time. 8.3.2.1 Place a brush or an accessory in the rotating drum. 8.3.2.2 Rotate the drum for 1 000 revolutions. 8.3.2.3 Stop the drum, remove the brush or accessory and inspect it for compliance
