5、ng AS4792 Water Conditioning Agents for Aqueous Magnetic Particle Inspection RATIONALE AS4792A revises Fluorescence (4.3) to update cancelled or withdrawn standards, and is a Five Year Review and update of this standard. 1. SCOPE 1.1 This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers water conditioning agents
6、used to facilitate aqueous wet-method magnetic particle inspection. 1.2 Such conditioning agents, in powder or liquid form, provide suitable corrosion protection, wetting, and particle dispensability properties when mixed in water for application of magnetic particles on the surface of an object for
7、 magnetic particle inspection as described in AMS3042, AMS3044, ASTM E1444, and others. 1.3 Water conditioning agents can consist of varying combinations of such components as dispersants, surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, and anti-foaming agents. Individual components may be added to the bath of a
8、 system to develop specific properties. The user is referred to the manufacturer of the conditioning agent to develop the most suitable combination of ingredients for the users requirements. 1.4 Safety - Hazardous Materials While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or refer
9、enced in this aerospace standard may involve the use of hazardous materials, this aerospace standard practice does not address the hazards which may be involved in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiarity with the safe and proper use of any hazardous materials and to
10、 take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of all personnel involved. 2. PREPARATION 3.1 Bath Preparation The conditioning agent shall be first added to the water bath, followed by the dispersion of the magnetic particles in accordance with manufacturers instructions. 3.2 Premixed Particles When u
15、sing a product containing a premixture of water conditioner and magnetic particles, the premixed product shall be mixed with tap water in accordance with manufacturers instructions. 3.3 Equipment Equipment used for evaluation of an aqueous magnetic particle suspension shall be clean and free from co
16、ntaminants including dirt, oil, and other foreign substances. 3.4 Storage Conditioning agents shall be stored at room temperature in a sealed container away from heat, cold, and moisture. An acceptable shelf life shall be as recommended by manufacturer. Expiration date of the product, when applicabl
