2、000 SUPERSEDING A-A-2547 January 20, 1988 COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION CABINET, KEY AND IDENTIFICATION SYSTEMS This General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Type II, Class A of Federal Specification AA-C-30D, for all federal agenc

3、ies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers lockable, wall-mounted key cabinets, with key tags, and a single identification system. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 2.1 Capacity. The minimum key-capacity shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 2.2 Label holders. Label holders

4、and labels shall be provided for each set of identical keys up to the key cabinet capacity. Unless otherwise specified, the labels shall be blank on one side and numbered from 1 up to the capacity of the cabinet. The labels shall be rigid or rigidly supported so that they do not become accidentally

5、dislodged or distorted. 2.3 Key tags. Key tags are required. The key tag system shall be a dual or two tag system providing for file and working or loaner keys. 2.4 Single identification system. A single identification system shall consist of a simple record of key identification symbols, correspond

6、ing to those assigned to a lock location, and a record of key loans. The key and lock location symbols may or may not be identical. Identification aids furnished shall not be less than one ledger, record book, card index, or other recording device. 2.5 Lock. The cabinet shall be provided with a cyli

7、nder or plug lock or padlock with a hasp and staple. Two keys shall be provided. 2.6 Cabinet construction. The cabinets shall be made of steel. The cabinet hinges shall be of all-metal construction, and may be either one full length piano-type hinge or at Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction

8、 or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-A-A-2547A 2 least three 2-1/4 inches long butt hinges, each having a fastened hinge pin. Provisions shall be made in the back for fastening the cabinet to the wall with screws. 2.7 Key panels. The key panels shall made of steel. The key panels sh

9、all be hinged or pivoted in a manner to provide free swinging without binding or having too loose a fit. 2.8 Hooks. All key cabinets shall be provided with key-holding hooks. Each hook shall have the capacity to hold at least two keys of 0.080 inch minimum thickness or the equivalent in tags and hav

10、e a clearance between the panel and hook of 1/4 inch for reception of tags. Hooks shall be spaced in the horizontal plane on not less than 1-3/8 inch centers and in the vertical plane not less than 3-1/2 inch centers. Alternate rows from top to bottom shall be staggered so that the hooks in the firs

11、t, third, etc. (odd number) rows are in a vertical column not less than 3-1/2 on centers, and in the second, fourth, etc. are in vertical column midway between the vertical odd number columns. Vertical distance from the bottom row of hooks to the bottom of the panel shall be a minimum 2-1/8 inches.

12、2.9 Table mounting. When specified, a base for table mounting shall be provided for cabinets with a capacity or 500 keys or greater. 2.10 Metal finish. The surface finish of the sheet metal shall be as provided commercially. Any surface scratches, roughness, etc. that might be detected shall be roun

13、ded, beveled, deburred, or fabricated in a manner to prevent injury. 2.11 Enamel. The cabinets shall be finished with at least one coat of baked on enamel. There shall be no drips or runs in the enamel. The color shall be gray. 2.12 Workmanship. The key cabinets shall have no defects that affect app

14、earance or durability. 3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 or the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. The products provided shall meet t

15、he salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such confor

16、mance. 4.1 Inspections and tests. Sample key cabinets shall be inspected and tested for compliance with the requirements, features, workmanship and tests specified in this description. 4.2 Door and panel test. Sample key cabinets shall be examined and tested to determine that the doors and key panel

In making the preceding test, each key-retaining

18、 panel or door shall be loaded with a weight equivalent to 1-1/2 ounces for each key-holding hook. Failure of any of the welds, permanent distortions in excess of 1/16 inch or any other defects that would affect the serviceability of the cabinet shall be considered as failing to comply with the requ

19、irements of this commercial item description. 4.4 Lock test. The lock shall be operated to determine that it locks properly and that the proper keys are furnished. 5. PACKAGING. Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 6. NOTES. 6.1 Ordering optio
