11、e-use electrical check, certification and visual inspection of cables, plugs and connections to the class H vacuum cleaner body; c) a pre-use check of the hose, its connections to the body of the class H vacuum cleaner and connections for attachments; d) the changing and disposing of the class H vac
12、uum cleaner dust bag to minimize fibre release; e) the cleaning of the class H vacuum cleaner and accessories on completion of work; NOTE Procedures c, d and e should be carried out within a working enclosure. f) the safe, storage after use, of the class H vacuum cleaner and its accessories; g) emer
13、gency procedures, e.g. procedures to be followed when there is a blocked hose, split dust bag or failure of the class H vacuum cleaner. NOTE Attention is drawn to the use of class H vacuum cleaners as defined in HSE task guidance Asbestos Essentials (HSG 210). 4 Risk assessment All work involving th
14、e removal of asbestos-containing materials should have a task-specific risk assessment and plan of work (method statement) including emergency procedures. The plan of work should include the selection and use of equipment, certification, checking and inspection and record keeping. 5 Operation 5.1 Pr
15、e-use of equipment 5.1.1 The contractor should ensure that any new class H vacuum cleaner includes a filtration efficiency certificate for the essential filter element and operator instructions. NOTE A filtration efficiency certificate does not ensure that the class H vacuum cleaner has been certifi
16、ed by a third party. 5.1.2 The contractor should ensure that new and serviced class H vacuum cleaners are delivered with a filtration test certificate for the assembled class H vacuum cleaner, not just for the HEPA filter. If a filtration test certificate is not included then the class H vacuum clea
17、ner should not be used for the removal of asbestos-containing material. 5.2 Decontamination within the working enclosure 5.2.1 The contractor should consider the potential difficulties in decontaminating many of the accessories used, e.g. hose interiors or brush attachments. Provision should be made
18、 for either effectively sealing and bagging these items in clear impervious waste bags for use on the next project, or disposing of them as asbestos waste on completion of the work. 5.2.2 The class H vacuum cleaner should only be used for cleaning fine dust and debris to minimize the risk of blockin
19、g the hose or damaging the dust bag. All larger pieces of debris should be collected and bagged before using the class H vacuum cleaner. NOTE Caution is advised when collecting damp materials as this might cause the asbestos waste bag to fail and damage the class H vacuum cleaner. 5.2.3 All visible
20、dust should be removed from all surfaces in order to prevent them from dispersing into the air. 5.2.4 The class H vacuum cleaner should be used from top to bottom of the enclosure, working towards the Negative Pressure Unit, paying particular attention to steelwork, pipework, joint flanges, valves,
21、recesses, bolt heads, enclosure walls and ledges.
