7、 Approval of an American National Standard requires verification by ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval have been met by the standards developer. Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review, substantial agree
8、ment has been reached by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more than a simple majority, but not necessarily unanimity. Consensus requires that all views and objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be made toward their resolution. The use of Am

21、pyright 2007 by American National Standard Lighting Group Page 4 of 16 ANSI_ANSLG C78.380-2007 Proposed Revision of ANSI C78.380-2005 1 Scope This standard describes a system for the designation of high-intensity discharge lamps, including compact, enclosed-arc discharge light sources such as mercur
22、y, metal halide, high-pressure sodium, and similar types of lamps. For convenience, low-pressure sodium lamps, although technically not high-intensity discharge lamps, are included with the group. There have been two changes since the 2005 standard. The first is a proposed addendum for the National
23、Electric Code (NEC) as a normative annex for the assignment of physical codes for lamp and luminaire attributes. The second is a proposed amendment to C78.380i- a revision of paragraph 7 and addition of a new paragraph 8. 2 Purpose The purpose of the designation system covered by this standard is to
24、 provide an identification code for use in ANSI standards. Some lamp marking requirements are also identified. Guidance is given as to which characteristics are important (key) to assure interchangeability. The lamp characteristic data given by a manufacturer on a High-Intensity Discharge Lamp Code
