2、gencies of the Department of Defense.1. SCOPE1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for M6+2 Propellant for use in the 76MM/62Caliber Propelling Charge (see 6.1).1.2 Classification. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see6.3) in accordance with 4.4.3.2 C

The grain form and dimensions shall meet the requirementslist
17、ed in MlL-P-270 for Type I propellants (see 4.7.2, 4.7.4, and 6.6).3.4 Integrity. The propellant grains shall be without cracks or incipient cracks between the perforationsor between the perforations and the outside edge of the grain (see 4.7.4).3.5 Stability (C1). Using the 134.5E centigrade (C) he
18、at test the methyl violet test paper shall not fadeto a salmon-pink color in less than 40 minutes and the propellant shall not explode in less than 5 hours(see 4.7.3).3.6 Charge weight (M103). The assessed charge weight shall be greater than 5.00 pounds (seeProvided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproducti

The propellant lot shall have a production packing depth such that, whenloaded as part of the 76MM, 62-caliber propelling charge assembly (Drawing 3028655), the minimum andmaximum production p
20、acking depths allowed for the assessed charge weight shall be 4.5 inches and 7.5inches, respectively (see 4.7.6).3.8 Gun ballistic assessment requirements.3.8.1 Velocity (M105). The charge weight of the propellant lot under test shall be assessed to resultin a nominal average new gun velocity of 300
21、0 feet per second (ft/sec) with a projectile weight of 14.15 0.05 pounds (see 4.7.6.2).3.8.2 Pressure (M106). The maximum allowed chamber pressure shall be 19.0 long tons per squareinch (tsi) (copper crusher gauge pressure) (see 4.7.6.2).3.8.3 Velocity variation (M107). The maximum allowed velocity
22、standard deviation shall be 15 ft/sec(see 4.7.6.2).3.8.4 Pressure variation (M108). The maximum allowed pressure standard deviation shall be 0.60tsi (see 4.7.6.2).3.9 Propellant interface test. All first article lots must be subjected to the propellant interface test andproduction lots when directed
23、 by the procuring activity (see 4.7.9 and 6.5).3.10 Workmanship. The propellant shall be manufactured using good workmanship and shall be aproduct free from foreign material. It shall be uniform in quality and manufactured in a manner to assurecompliance with the requirements of this specification w
24、hen examined in accordance with 4.7.4.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for inspection.
